Your Favorite Tangiers Lucid Flavors

Recommended Posts

I gave up on the regular tangiers because after following the instructions to a T, eventually I ended up with a bad cough for a week and had to take a break from hookah altogether because I was coughing up black stuff from it. O_o

I'm willing to try the washed version if it smokes normal though because everyone raves about it. I've read the reviews, now I just want 5 flavors that are must-try's

Did anyone else notice the part about COUGHING UP BLACK STUFF? I feel like maybe there are problems beyond the tobacco...

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me...

Yasseah- you need to call Eric and talk to him, I think. He'll be able to diagnose your issues with Noir. But I agree with kmccoy90, I don't think it was the tobacco.

I know that Tangiers is a trial and error thing. I just have no desire to have to endure another trial/error :blum2: I was down to 2 1/4 coconara's(!!) in a really tightly packed tang phunnel and it would just kill me. I tried 4 or 5 times in a week and after the final attempt, I had an awful cough and a pain in my chest that lasted about 6 days. I haven't written Noir off, but I'm just scared to try it again. Maybe there will be a florida forum meet or something and then someone can show me Edited by Yasseah

I'm going to make this thread a two-parter from now on if you don't mind... Not only will it serve to get you some ideas on what Lucid flavors to purchase, but it shall also help you with your Noir issues. Tell us exactly what you were doing. How did you acclimate it? Just try to tell us everything you can think of that you did, step by step.

coughing up tar is not a surprise if you're a tobacco smoker. after all, regardless of the ignorance that many hookah smokers display toward its health risks, there is tar in nicotine and smoking hookah involves ingesting harmful ingredients, depending on the severity of the tobacco.
I WOULD be surprised if you were coughing up tar from washed brands like Tangiers Lucid or Starbuzz. something like Nakhla or normal Tangiers though? no surprise there. I don't smoke anything apart from hookah and had to quit the heavy-duty shisha several months ago and stick to Lucid and Starbuzz because I used to get black phlegm.

guess how many times I got the black stuff after quitting the heavy duty tobacco types? none. also, I was tested extensively by the doctor and I'm fine.
some people's bodies reject tar and harmful ingredients from smoke, which is actually a positive thing. no one wants that to build up inside of you... your body is doing you a service by ridding itself of it.
stick to lighter tobaccos... there are plenty of good brands out there, including Tangiers Lucid. less hassle and nearly as much flavor!

OH, and back to the topic, as far as recommendations go, these are my Lucid faves: blue gumball, kashmir cherry, orange soda, tropical punch, passion fruit, and mint.
I really haven't had a bad Lucid. most of them are worth the purchase Edited by contristo

I don't want to provoke anything or look like a dick, but tar in nicotine? Tar is just the result of combustion of organic materials after it's passed through or filter, or worse, your lungs. It isn't some sort of black monster that lives deep in leaves and chemical compounds. Thats like saying smoke is in nicotine, or smoke is in tobacco. It's made. Piggybacking on that note, tar is produced from combustion, so the amount of nicotine or the washed or un-washed quality has nothign to do with it. Combustion is the key there.

Making a tobacco washed or unwashed doesn't make it contain less or more chemicals than the other. More nicotine, sure. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, and assuming you aren't comparing cigarettes to shisha. Never once in my life have I heard of nakhla or tangiers noir producing black phlem. I have been a nakhla lover for years, with nothign even close.

With the best of intentions, I question the validity of your statement.

However, our taste for passion fruit and orange soda lucid flavors are shared.

Other favorties and honorable mentions are peached iced tea, horchata and new lime.

1. Tar is a by product of combustion. Nicotine in and of itself doesn't contain tar. If this were the case, the risk of cancer would be present in nicotine gums and patches, and in the new e-cigarette things, which boast on the television as having "Absolutely no tar." Not saying that the television doesn't lie, but you know what I mean.

2. There is no such thing as "heavy-duty" tobacco. You've got various degrees of washing, but the tobacco leaf used in Zaghloul is, inherently, the same plant used in your Starbuzz. The SB has less nicotine than the Nakhla, but that doesn't make it cleaner as far as tar is concerned.

There is no such thing as healthy smoking, and nicotine poses its own health hazards (high blood pressure, hypertension, heart arrhythmia, etc.), but to incorrectly spout off information that is simply inaccurate really does an injustice to our cause of clearing the air of misconceptions.

i brought up the tar issue with eric and few other before this is what he had to say about it Well, that is interesting.
SONTHERT:
'TAR' is meaningful when applying it to cigarettes. For Hookah, in the most technical sense, there is a massive amount of 'TAR' in hookah tobacco. The vast majority of the Aerosol is glycerine vapor which is probably relatively harmless, so using it in the same sense as you do for cigarettes may be unfair.
