Found A Make Shift Wind Cover.

Recommended Posts

Hello guys!

Erm....So I was in need of a wind cover and decided to make myself one with a tin or something, so I went to the market and looked at all sorts of canned things, and then found the perfect tin - Canned pineapples slices it had.

So I bought it and then went to the hardware store, and as I was looking around for a church key, I found this :-

It is actually a holder for things like spoons/forks and other small utensils, but it is of just perfect width and height to fit over my mya QT, so I got it (was for only $1). But it has too many holes on the sides, does it make a difference ?

I wanted to ask if it is effective with so many holes or should I cover them ? If so, then which ones am I supposed to keep uncovered ? :) Thanks.

Lol! I don't smoke outdoors, but needed one indoors to save a little coal. :D And I kind of used it last night and it didn't get hot at all from the bottom of sides, so I was thinking that I can tape some foil paper on it ? Am I supposed to keep the holes uncovered where the top of my bowl ends ? :)

That's what I would have suggested. If the tape burns, I'm sure there is a way to wrap the foil paper without using tape.

It actually looks pretty good for homemade.

Let us know how it works out.

honestly i just use a can with 3 big holes near the bottom and about 4 bigger ones on top. It works like a charm, just be careful to smooth out any edges or it will catch your foil and tear it.

I used the foil paper wind cover for some time, but it never lasted more than a couple of sessions, so I set out on my quest to make one, and this one worked fine tonight but I understand the tape I used was plastic after all.

But as some people have mentioned here, it CAN melt so tomorrow I'm gonna get some paper tape, the kind that doctors use for bandaging and do it again!! :_sheesha2__by_Majunka_aurore:

It would be nice if you can find a metal sleeve to slide over the utensil holder that way you can adjust how many hole you want exposed and control the heat.

Hey thanks Click! That is a brilliant idea!!

I still actually have that can of pineapple slices and I guess it's marginally wider than this. I can drill 2 holes at bottom of it's sides not completely opposite to each other and then shove that on top of this.

That way, I can lift it to expose as many holes as I want and then stick like a metal pipe through those holes, and passing through the holes of the holder to make it stay there!! :D

Here's what I did before I bought my XL windcover:

Took a few sheets of foil, folded them over for durability, then folded the edges, then rolled it on a can to make it curved, and fit in on the edge of the bowl, taped it ON THE OUTSIDE of the bowl to keep it together, and crinkled the bottom to form it to the edge on the bowl so it rests on it properly.

Duly noted! Thanks.

Wrapped around with coil paper and the ends rolled together and then taped to seal the ends. That way, the tape itself is not touching the cover from anywhere and the closest strand of tape is about 11/2 inches away. :)

Would have been a lot easier to just buy a cover, but tried everywhere without any luck! Hard to believe that hookah was invented in my country.
