BUT!!!
try not to smoke for a few days to make sure it wears off, ease your lungs and throat
if this happens often or for long periods of time, visit your doctor

I think nobody here is a doctor so please, be cautious and take no risks.

I would try a few things, not that any of them will help, just some suggestions. Make sure you aren't constantly taking pulls off the hookah every 2 seconds. Give yoruself some tijme to rest between each draw. I usually take a draw every 8-10 seconds, but sometimes I get so wraped up in the deliciousness of it all! Lol

Drink water with a smoke session, or anything for that matter. Make sure it isn't scorched when you are smoking, this could cause some problems, puffing away on a scorched bowl.

I don't think it's anything to worry about, just make sure you don't smoke in excess (if there is such a thing :P), only you know if you are smoking too much, for too long.

Also you might want to look into the way you inhale. When we inhale expanding our chest it actually can add stress to our heart and is the incorrect way to breathe. Naturally were supposed to breath, expanding our abdoman. Try doing this when you smoke. But it could also be the fact we're breathing something other than oxygen.

Does anybody ever have a sore throat or a little heavy chest the day after you smoke it up??? U thinkbits the coals? I only use the natural kind.

Yes, this can happen occasionally, not a regular occurrence for me but certainly if I smoke very heavily, or with a cold, or whatever. Your choice of coals is a long way down my list of suspects; natural coals are good, as long as you're taking the time to make sure they're really lit through fully (and any wood gas has burned off) before they ever go on your pipe. The quantity of coals, though, determines what proportion of your tobacco is smoking and at what temperature, and therefore how thick and how potentially irritant the smoke is. So, you might try using less heat and seeing whether that helps. Other factors that may or may not be relevant, but which you should consider, are:

1) your tolerance; if you are a non-smoker, then a lungful of tobacco smoke would irritate you more than it will irritate someone who routinely smokes cigarettes
2) your choice of shisha; when user error is eliminated, this is what determines the quality of smoke
3) your pipe; obviously a handheld goza is going to provide less filtration than a 4-foot pipe with half a gallon of water in it
4) your technique; it takes some trial and error to learn what is too much or too little heat for a given tobacco, or how tight or loose to pack.

Finally, there is subjective preference. In contrast to majority opinion here, I leave an air gap between foil and shisha, and (with my coals and shisha) I prefer the result. I don't like half-burnt, half-scorched shisha, whatever the majority says. To get back to the point, though, if you're waking up with a sore throat and a heavy chest, it means that your smoke is harsher and more irritant than you subjectively want it to be (unless you've just smoked for 12 hours straight). The easiest way to make it less aggressive is use less heat. If that doesn't do what you want, the above should give you plenty to mess about with and hopefully find what you prefer. Its normal. Best remedy you may ask? Cut down on the amount of times you smoke and start perdorming cardi based sports or excerices. I go jogging. Opens your air sacs and you end up coughin the mucous. Try it

I smoke camel lights when I'm not smoking shisha, I took a 6 month break by complete accident and only smoked cigs. Now that I'm smoking shisha again my lungs actually feel better and mucous is breaking up and coming right out. sometimes I distinctly tast afeskapple when I cough it out. My point however is that I feel better when I smoke shisha which reinforces the notion that I hold dear which is that shisha is GOOD for you. I'm working on proving it.
