Fire-Soul
Hello, been a long while since I last posted anything here. A while back in 05 when I first joined I was starting to make plans for a purchase. I sadly was unable to go through with that purchase back then due to a number of issues. I have yet to actually use a Hookah still. So I was hoping I could get some advice. At this point I am planning on ordering from Hookah-shisha.com. But I am also more than glad to hear other suggestions. As a side note, I only smoke clove cig's occasionally. Which have also gotten more difficult for me to find locally. I would like to get a well constructed and easily cleaned hookah. I was originally going to aim at the Mya QT till I read that they are a pain to clean besides possible frail glass. I don't need a super large hookah. I was planning on getting the small phunnel bowl for smoking with as it seemed the smartest for my personal solo needs. Which hoses would you suggest for getting? Several Mya hoses that you don't wash or something a little more decorative and washable? I'm not super keen on the design of the completely plastic hose as far as aesthetics goes. But a plastic inner design with wood and pleather or leather would be great. I plan on using plastic tips especially when sharing with friends but most of my friends do not smoke. The two freebie brands of tobacco coming with the pipe. What would you suggest as being moderately acceptable. Which ones to absolutely avoid as a first time user? For an idea I am looking to spend around $100 to $125 over all including additional tobacco options and accessories. Thankyou again in advance for taking the time to hear me out. cotsi95
The mya qt is a great small pipe. I would suggest getting a small nammor hose. As far as what brands to get in ur freebie af is always a good choice. A small phunnel is all u need for >4hr sessions. Also eric (Tangiers) does make a clove flavor btw. It is VERY close to Djarum blacks.
Murakamikazi
The best suggestion I've got is this: http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-187-mini-mya-hookah.html. It has an acrylic base, not glass, so you don't have to worry about the glass breaking. It is cheap, small and good quality. I would also suggest a Nammor hose. They look nice and have a nice bore size so it draws well. For the two tobaccos I would suggest Al Fakher first. AF is pretty easy to use and the flavors are really good, they have candy flavor to them. I would suggest that you first watch a video on how to pack a bowl though. I hope this helps. Bryan Fire-Soul
For tobacco I would suggest Tangiers Lucid (washed) Nakhla (unwashed) Al Fakher (washed) For a pipe I would suggest a mya bambino, or maybe even a petite if you want to save some cash For a Hose I would suggest a razan or a nammor For a bowl I would suggest a discount engyptian or a phunnel if you really want to upgrade and plan on smoking for a good while at a time. http://www.hookahcompany.com/khalil_mamoon_hookahs_155_ctg.htm You should also look into the 30" KM pipes, as a lot of them already come with a washable hose
Hassouni
I would suggest Mya too, maybe this if you want something bigger than a QT? http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-6675-mya-saray-hookah-econo-gyro-1hose-hookah.html . Agreed on either Nammor or Razan hose, or a Narbish. For the tobacco, go for Al-Fakher or Nakhla. Safe flavors from either are Melon/Sweet Melon, Strawberry, Orange, then for AF: guava is great, mint is fantastic, for Nakhla: peach, double apple, many others. Fire-Soul
Thankyou everyone so far for the replies. As an addendum the freebies I have choice of at least from Hookah-shisha is " 2 50g boxes of Premium Shisha (1 Romman, 1 Al Tawareg) " I have yet to hear anyone say "Buy this brand" so I have trepidations towards choosing a flavor from them. Any I should completely avoid? Any you think are worth trying? Thankyou again and please keep any and all suggestions, points of interest and explanations coming. I'm a firm believer I can learn something new all the time. Bryan Fire-Soul ps... I'll be aiming to get some tangiers now that you pointed out a clove option. The idea of that and a lil rum in with the water sounds great. I had these cigars a while back and the tips came pre-dipped in cognac.
Hassouni
Stuie has tried pretty much all the Romman flavors, I suggest you ask him
Guercho
I bought my first hookah back in 2009. It was a Mya Bambino. I can say it is the best hookah i have smoke out of so far. But as far as Mya's other products go, its the only one worth buying. I bought a large hookah from them and it was a very pretty piece and it smoked very well. At first. the shoddy material that stem was made out of began to come apart. I am not sure what specific metal it is i think its copper but they dip the stem in a chrome coating. But this coating begins to break down very early on and a sand-like mold ill grow on the inside of your hookah. But i have never had this problem with the bambino. Its a great smoke for only about 60 bucks. mines been knocked over several times and its still standing. The only thing i would suggest if a bigger ash tray. the one that comes with it is a bit useless. and a tangiers phunnel bowl. Ive had a good 4 to 5 hours smoke session with the phunnel. And although it isn't necessary, a new hose would be a good addition too. But i still highly recommend the bambino.
r1v3th3ad
I love the bambino for its appearance, but I found a need for a mod grommet when using phunnels and I found it a bit more finicky with cleaning Love the qt, no qualms about it I absolutely love my petite...I have one with a heba diffuser on it and it doesnt even feel like you are smoking. found I need a mod grommet for that too. they run about $25. these are all smaller mya pipes. I know there are some new ones on the market that are small and I am unfamiliar with them. also, I've been through two nammor hoses...they are great hoses. they are washable, but I noticed after a year of heavy use(3 plus phunnel bowls a day) they start to ghost...but still great hoses and beats a non-washable if you don't smoke much, and are looking at getting a phunnel, I recommend hookahjohn's alien mini-phunnel. Takes around 20Gs of tobacco and lasts in the ballpark of two hours(I've had 3-4hours before) mod grommet(if needed) around $1 The alien phunnel is about $19 +shipping I believe Heba diffuser two pack is $10 I think Small nammor hose runs about $19 mya petite$ 25 mya QT anywhere between $35-60 depending on where you are shopping mya bambino I forget the going online price, but I picked one up locally for $40 also I would recommend checking out coconut coals. everyone has a different opinion on which ones are good, but the general standard on the forum is that coconaru makes the best ones ($13 a box of 108pieces i believe)...and if you go that route you can get a hot plate for $10 at Walgreens
vendetta_revived
For your first hookah, I'd say go for Mya QT. It's not easy to tip over and the glass is not frail at all. It smokes like a beast and is easy to clean + easy to carry, comes in a 2 hose version as well.
Epoch
Romman makes pretty excellent tobacco. Al Tawareg is generally good, but nothing to get excited over.
