jorlyfish
I'm thinking about buying a coal carrier - I'm sick of carrying one or two bits of coal back and forth from where I light them to where I smoke (and occasionally dropping them along the way - but feel its silly to drop $10+ on a essentially a piece of metal with a handle on it. Does anyone have a homemade coal carrier or know of a good, safe way to move hot coals?
IainUM
well a lot of the time if i have to move coals a distance, i just wait to put the bowl on the hookah so i can use the ash tray to carry them. if you have another hookah, you could use the ash tray from it
TheyCallMeDave
I will probably never invest in a coal carrier. I always use my ashtray. When I lost my ashtray, I used a frying pan, lol.
ilikemyusername
I'm with this guy they call dave, I have a very small frying pan that I use, sure it aint "fancy" but it works.

king_lunchb0x
i just use my hookah coal tray to carry them from the stove the first time. then when i light some new ones I use my small mya tray to carry the new ones over..frying pan sounds like a good idea
noodle
I used a thick porcelain bowl for coals. It got so hot it melted the placemat it was sitting on, so I'm pondering getting a coal carrier myself.
liquidglass
I've used a frying pan, an ash tray, and a chinese porcelain pot (used for cooking over fires) and i'll tell you this, even though I loved the pot, and it came with a lid too. since i bought my coal carrier I couldn't be happier. It's easy to get the air flowing over the coals a bit, easy to carry, no worry about anything getting too hot that doesn't need to be, and it compliments the hookah well. You're already spending money on the item you're carrying the coals in (if anything) and you're spending money on the shisha and coals you prefer might as well calculate that into their cost. Plus it's a more "needed" accessory for your luxury habit than something like a diffuser or ANOTHER bowl etc etc.
Cp44
i use this: http://www.containerstore.com/shop/kitchen/countertop?productId=10008032 Got it on sale from Macy's for like $5.
kmccoy90
I would just feel silly carrying a big basket around for a couple chunks of coal.
ezxen
i made oneout of a monster energy dring / cut it down about third of the way and wrapped foil around string
Arcane
i got a medium coal carrier from HC in a trade. i like it. in fact, i'm debating on buying the large one. but, if you're adamant about using something else, the frying pan works. or fashion a cup out of some foil and use that. Skoozle
I use my wind cover. It has a handle, otherwise it would be too hot to carry. Not sure if it is better or worse than the other ideas but it's another option.

My pipe doesn't look right with a traditional windcover though so I use a Taj. no handle there.

HubertLovesMagdyZidan
honestly, just get ur average coal carrier. it works great and u can swing it in the air when needed to get oxygen into ur charcoal if u need to
TweakX4
i got this one http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-1067-premium-hookah-charcoal-holder.html i was gonna get the cheaper one they have, but it was (and still is) all out. i'm glad i got this one tho, the legs on it make it so you can set it on the table without burning anything, and you can light quick lights on it without hurting anything. plus, it looks pretty nice. i used the ashtray before i got it, and even tho i don't have to walk very far, it still got pretty warm before i could get it on the hookah. Hassouni
i use a sieve with foil in it, or a tray, or a windcover. You're not a lounge, a coal carrier is unnecessary
dizzbizz
I use a stainless steel bowl. I found a small mixing bowl at Ross and bought it for like 3 bucks. Easy enough.
Epoch
I use a little copper cauldron I saw sitting at a thrift store. Works wonders.
rahl071
Coffee mug and/or stainless steel cups like in the camping section of Walmart or similar. Just make sure it has a handle.
agunn1231
I used a kitchen cooking pan till my buddy bought me a coal carrier. the thing i like about kitchen pans is that if you stumble along the way, it's so deep you probably wont lose any coals, and you can wash it out after and use it for cooking if need be
antouwan
maybe excessive but the 10 bucks is definitely worth it. when i'm at my buddies' houses i just use a pan or something, but we use naturals. i rarely use quick lites, but when i do, i'm glad i have the coal carrier, i'd rather fuck something up that's designed for that than screw up a good pan. plus, there's that little thing on there for the tongs so it's perfect. i always used to forget my tongs...no more! huzzah!
