Reviews of my poorly purchased shisha

Recommended Posts

Okay, so since I'm new here I'm going to give you my story, and my reviews. Also; because I'm bored, its almost 1am, and im in the back yard smoking hookah.I got sick of paying 25$ each time to hookah at the restaurant near me. Yes, it was 25$ for ONE bowl, if you wanted choices beyond stawberry and apple. Granted, their blend of whiteberry, chamise (sp?), and cotton candy was amazing. So I went to berkely and bought a hookah in a head shop. I bought my hookah, 2 rolls of rolland quick light coals, and 3 cheap things of shisha/maassell/whatever you guys call it. Since we're on the subject, what do you call it? I'll just call it tobacco, for lack of knowing the correct term.I bought Nakhla strawberry, and 2 tubs of some unknown brand. andThe strawberry was definitely the best choice of the 3; so far.It tastes good; makes a decent amount of smoke, definitely gives me one hell of a buzz, but it burns up quickly. The cola i'll have to give another shot, because I knew nothing about hookah till I came here and I left it inside my nice cold Air Conditioned house, and tried smoking it in 105 degree very humid weather. All it did was burn, and taste like sh*t; with very little smoke. The Pina Colada smells kind of strange, but I'm not big on Coconut; I bought it because my girlfriend loves pina colada. Since I learned a bit, I left it outside today in its container with the cap just placed on top to keep bugs out, but allowing it to breathe. And its smoking far better than the Nakhla I had did. I don't taste much, but thats either because I've smoked too much lately and my taste buds are fried, or because I don't have much of a taste for Coconut. I do taste the same Pina Colada smell I got earlier, but only when I take big big puffs. But thats the other thing; it is making MASSIVE amounts of smoke compared to even the stuff at the hookah bar. It has required very little tending too as well. I lit the coal; stuck it on one side of the bowl, and its been there for 15 minutes easily now with no harshness or thinning of smoke. This is what I always thought Hookah was supposed to be like. Also; it still gives me one hell of a buzz.Has anybody else tried this brand; or know anything about it? Im sure there is far far better out there. And today I found a shop much closer to me which carried Al Waha and Layalina, as well as a couple Havana flavors; and some other brands I didn't recognize.I bought Al Waha peach, and Layalina Rose and Cherry. Oh; since I'm thinking about it, I saw people talking about washable hoses. I've been washing this one, is that a mistake? it seems like a thick plastic of some sort.Okay, I guess I'm done posting, but I'm still bored; so tell me what you guys think. Hopefully I didn't make too big of a mistake in my purchases. I'm happy with them anyways.

some hoses have like metal rings round the inside which can rust if washed and make it taste like poop.Ive heard a few people say that the coconut of any brand isn't normally that pronounced, so don't worry  about your lil taste buds.EDIT: next time, maybe consider buying online, theres a massive choice and most of the time it's cheaper than local stores. theres plenty of online retailers, and a few that offer discounts if you frequent these forums.

my only problem buying tobacco online is a delay; and I didn't want to wait to start. In the future I intend on making all my purchases online, as I do with most other things. Its far cheaper and easier. This was a case of not wanting to wait

Cigs do. I would recoment sitting in a cool place, packing a nice bowl
and relaxing. It was 111 degrees in San Diego the other day. Today it's
96. No was in hell am I sitting outside and smoking for up to an

No I can't smoke in the house; my parents would not be particularly happy.I enjoy the heat; I hate being inside when its 100+; I'm always outside. But it does make it hard to smoke hookah unless there's another trick I don't know.

aah i know the problem. have you pointed out to your parents that shisha smoke doesnt stick. seriously - i inflated my bag full of shisha smoke for a laugh. it was all fun and game until i realised i had left my coat in my bag. so we opened the bag and my coat just smellt like it normally does (of me!!) and a few days before that (at the same house) my friend had a house parrty. we had a hookah set up in his bedroom and we were smoking for about 6 hours. the morning after, it smellt normal, not of shisha or anything. Also, ask your parents to come smell some shisha smoke (blow a bit in their general direction) and i'm sure they wouldn't mind the smell of it (make sure you're doing it with a nice flavour though....not double apple or anything nasty like that!)

My parents were hippies; I've smoked other herbal things with them; they just simply don't want smoking indoors. I know it doesn't stick, but I respect their wishes and they respect my choices. What I have been doing is just taking my tubs out in the back yard and popping the lid just enough to allow airflow through it; without being really open, and it seems to work okay. Although I haven't tried it in the true heat yet.And hookah noob; I would never get a place with a girlfriend, unless we were engaged. Personally, I like having my own space. I house-sit a lot, so I'm dreaming of my own place. But apparently I keep spending my money on other things! ^ go figure!
