Chreees
So this was brought up elsewhere and I don't agree with it. Every box of CCNs I've had have been good to me. Additionally, I don't buy into the "cubes are better" or "flats are better" debate. They're the same for me, heat management wise and in regards to longevity. I don't see any complaints about CCN here on HF, but maybe some of you guys think it is and just haven't said anything. Coconara is my go-to coal, and will continue to be until I notice a change in their quality.
TheyCallMeDave
I have to agree, Chris. If there was ANY change in quality, I'm sure the forum would be buzzing about it. I love CCN. I'll pay the extra dollar over AF or HJ for nats from them. Hands down.
ezxen
Aside from size issues with a few box's no complaints, but as for flats vs cube flats are better cubes have less surface area on the tobacco . flats give better clouds thats about it both give best session tho. joytron
Cubes are better whole on a small phunnel, flats are better cut in half on a mini phunnel
Chreees
Three flats or three cubes on my small, or two flats or two cubes on my mini, I notice no difference. Must just be me.
Cp44
my second and third box of coco cubes are not that great, seems like its not hot enough. Two cocos for my large clay bowl was enough before but now it seems like I need atleast 3 to enjoy my smoke.
Click
My last box is from December. Absolutely no problems. Flats btw. Wasn't there some talk over changes in weather affecting coals? Like if you leave them open to the elements, etc.

Like if they're stored in super cold or super hot weather, or they get wet, etc.
dizzbizz
I used CCN exclusively for a while a long time ago, but because of the prices I switched to AF nats. Now a local shop carries CCn and I buy them again. To me, I haven't noticed any change in quality. Its superior as always. As far as the shapes, I just prefer the cube, i don't think the quality is any different.
Chreees
Ha, I'd like to know who said yes and why. Should've made this a public poll...
Cp44
Yea Chris, I have done nothing different in my hookah setup. Before smoking with two coals was perfect, now it seems like after 30 mins I have to flip it or change out for new coals.

Should've made this a public poll... [/quote] I said yes. My last box seemed to smell more when lighting and not last as long. Also the shape was less regular, but that doesn't bother me a whole lot. Stuie
Haven't seen a decline. Cubes are perfect for mini bowls (phunnel, SC, Crown) Flats are good for everything. It's a direct surface area thing. But I haven't seen a decline got boxes of both that I have bought sporadically over the past year or so... can't tell a difference in quality at all. boludo
you need to take into consideration who brought up the subject... let's not forget that this person has an interest in ccn selling less... And no, I have not seen any difference in the quality...
joytron
Can we get some backstory one why they are declining in quality?
HookahLover25
Nope.. I haven't had issues with CCN declining in quality. I just bought 5 boxes of each flats and cubes. So far I used both flats and cubes. No issues. I want to know that persons reason for stating CCN declining in quality. I thinking he/she left it on the stove way 2 long. I did that before and it shrunk pretty quick.
Hassouni
FWIW, Mazayas are made in the same factory, and they're awesome. That being said I never tried the CCN cubes
Chreees
Yeah I need to try the Mazayas. But it's gonna be a while... I have 5 boxes of CCN flats right now!
mitchard
I haven't noticed a decline in quality really. The new flats seem to be hotter than the old ones, but not by any real stretch. I think the cubes are a lot better than the flats for the mini and small phunnels, especially for Tangiers. There is a noticeable difference in the heat output, which I attribute directly to the differences in the surface area of coal touching the foil. The Mazayas I can't say much about, since I haven't tried them. I have around 20 boxes of coals now, so I probably won't be stocking up again soon haha. agunn1231
for a good while the flats that i bought locally were great, recently, they have been really mis-shapen, and heat output has been shotty, probabkly the store owner buying knock-off's though
Hassouni
My local store stopped selling them, not sure why....
Chreees
My local shop in Nashville carries the old 16 ct. boxes of flats. $2.99 per box.
