Money=Stolen

Recommended Posts

So my gf and i finally went to order my bday hookah last night. Ordered a gyro from h-s.com. I've ordered from there probably 5 times so i trust them. At first she was going to use her debit card but for some reason it wouldn't go thru, so I tried to use mine, but it being my birthday present, she wouldn't let me. So she decided to use her mum's card and she would just repay her the money. Everything went smoothly....for about 18 hours. Got a call from her today that said someone stole the card info and took "a couple thousand" $$$ (i still don't know how much). Anyway, my roommate keeps telling me he's had his identity stolen twice and he got the money back both times. I"m still freaked....i could be out a couple thousand (no way in hell i'd let my gf pay it out if its lost). I'm about to email HS about it and see what they say.

I don't know whats going on yet, i'll keep you guys updated. Idk if there is a problem with the site or what but just a warning

you will get the money back almost immediately from your bank. simply have her mom dispute the charges and contact the police.
do not wait for HS or anyone else to "figure anything out". do not even bother messing with H-s untill she has called the bank and the police. Have i said that enough?

Failure to do exactly this first will only cause additional drama for everyone.

Please note that when I said "hope you get this figured out," I meant like worked out or sorted out, not in the way Mush is talking about, haha. I'll be honest, I didn't give any advice because I've never been in that sort of situation before. But yeah, disputing the charges and filing a police report would be the first thing I'd do, as Mush pointed out.

HOLLYY CRAP!! Sorry to hear that but your gf's mom's bank probably sucks X_X. I know my mom bought a washer/dryer and some other stuff for $3000. When we were purchasing it. The bank automatically put a hold on the card, we had to talk to the bank for 30 mins just to release the funds. We got stuck in the store for 2 hours!!! lol.

did she order anything online recently or use her card copy(or your gf) anywhere else recently...

my parents had this happen to them over a year ago, turns out someone at a local restaurant stole their card number while they were checking out(one of those places that takes the money or card while you are seated finishing up)

I doubt it was H-S...I'm pretty sure their checkout uses HTTPS and its a separate cart system that is automatic run through system...but there are a number of possibilities(like someone found a way to hack the system)

But as was stated before, file with police and contact bank/loaner...should be able to track where that money was taken from and go from there...they got the girl that used my parents card(numbers)

that is one serious matter.. police report and contact bank are good advice.. They should be able to look up the charges and figure out where their going to. Could have been some one hacked a comp and retrieved the information. My gf is going through identity theft through sprint and their being rather difficult about it. I hope you get the money back

Thanks for all the advice guys. She is getting the money back thank jeebus. Mush that is exactly what went down.

I will find out more tomorrow and i'm thinking it wasn't anything with h-s. I just wanted to get the word out to be warned of ordering but I'm thinking (without having the complete info) that somewhere/one else is to blame.

I also held off on emailing h-s until we figure it out. I don't want to accuse them of anything they didn't do(but i might have already done that). Other than this i have had nothing but positive experiences with them

I 2nd Rivet on this one. My girlfriends parents had theirs stolen at an applebees out of state one time. Even were able to pinpoint the person who did it later on.

I ordered from H-S last week (3kg of tangiers/nak/af arriving today woooot!) and haven't had any suspect charges. Could be a key logger on your computer, i'd run a complete scan on your system before ordering anything else. The bank should be able to tell you where the charges came from, if it was local then it was probably a restaurant. If it was distant then it was probably from the internet. Hope you get the money back soon!
