I am in India and here we don't have a great selection of either tobacco, or bowls so I decided I will try an online US based vendor and buy me some awesome stuff from there, and I was going to make a big order (my first from US) come this weekend. But due to some urgent financial problems, I am only going to make a small order and take it from there. I am looking to order a kilo of Tangiers, or may be two. My main concern is the bowl, as my current finances allow me to order only 1 this time. I usually smoke before I go to sleep and my sessions usually range from 1-2 hours before I call it a night and crash. So should I order a Tangiers small bowl? Or a mini will do? I have read threads after threads about how a tangiers small is not really small and still holds like 40-50 gm of shisha. And I've also read that the alien mini is quite shallow and one is likely to burn the shisha a lot. I've also read though that the second gen alien mini smokes good but I don't really have much information on it? Am I any less likely to burn my baccy in it? I've looked in the review section here but there are only 7 reviews and they include the first gen mini too. I would also like to state that till now I've smoked only AF (since it is the only quality tobacco available here) with which I've never faced any problems but I hear that it is quite idiot proof and this will be my first order of tangiers. Also, I am not very decided on flavours, so suggestions are welcome. Here's what I am thinking about ordering. 1. Kashmir cherry 2. Indian summer 3. Static starlight 4. New lime 5. Orange soda 6. Epoch Posted April 18, 2011 Share Posted April 18, 2011 If you're worried about not getting Tang to smoke right, try picking up Lucid flavors. Having options for bowls is great, especially given the difference between an Alien and a Small. Allstar Posted April 18, 2011 Share Posted April 18, 2011 I like my HJ mini. It smokes like a champ. A small is good to. You can also smoke Tangiers out of a regular bowl to. I did for almost a year. It's a great bowl according to what I've read, but being in India, shipping is a major problem, and I've only come across one vendor that offers the shipping I can afford. Am I right? I'd reckon I'd waste a lot of shisha given the duration I smoke for. I am not too big on putting the unburnt stuff back into the tub actually, I've heard that it doesn't stay as good as fresh/unused tobacco. I will definitely order those if I do order more than I've listed. As for the mini, is it relatively hard to master than a tang bowl? I pretty much have my heat management down with AF and egyptians, and I reckon that though there will be a learning curve to phunnels and tang, is it still that hard? Thanks. mitchard Posted April 18, 2011 Share Posted April 18, 2011 I'll put the bottom layer of tobacco back into the tub sometimes, but I make sure to get all of the burnt pieces off. I have never noticed a difference. Its still just as juicy as whats in the tub. But if thats not your thing and you don't smoke for long periods of time, then a smaller bowl is probably your best option. That or make a scalli mod. [/quote] Hmmm...I've never had to do that before, but if you guys think that Tang phunnel holds a definite edge over the mini, then I guess I should order a small and see how it goes! A lot of people vouch for the tang small though, but no one has said if it definitely holds something on the alien, so I suppose it is more of a personal preference thing? Or am I missing something? [/quote] Hmmm....I guess then that I am gonna go with the general consensus and get a Tang small this time, and order an alien next month. It'd fit on the QT without any mod grommets right? king_lunchb0x Posted April 19, 2011 Share Posted April 19, 2011 i use both bowl actually. 80% Hj alien 20%tang small.. for long sessions i use my tang small. The only thing that i had trouble with the HJ bowl with Tang Noir ( i didnt have this problem with lucid) the heat was a pain in the ass. I had to really break the coal up in to bunch of littl parts for an easy lite finger coal. Then Ch nats i had to rotate form using 3 halves to 2halves quiet often. compared to my tang phunnel i just threw three halves and it smoked awesome. both bowls are great. small for long sessions.mini for short sessions.
