Hookah Issue! Please Help!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have tried just about everything here, been smoking this hookah for 6 years.

I haven't changed my tobacco supplier in close to 5 years. Al-akher

Lately, I have been getting HOT air through my hookah as if my hookah is on fire and i'm inhaling the fumes. The tobacco isn't burning. It smokes fine, but its hard to pull from since its so hot.

I recently replaced my hose, i've tried water in the base... etc etc. The hookah is clean and hasn't had any issues till now.

Would you say the hose is the issue? Its the only logical thing I can think of.. but even then it seems like a weird problem

I would love for ANY help on this!

I WANT SOME GOOD HOOKAH!

Even though you say its not burning, it sounds like you could be using too much heat. Did you try using less coals? What is your packing technique? Are you using a lot of heat with foil that doesn't touch the tobacco?

Well, this is strange. How old is the hose? If you've been doing everything consistently for 6 years what have you changed recently?

The only thing changed is the new hose I purchased. Its less than 2 weeks old. I usually have no issue with the hoses until they get really old and degrade over time after a few cleanings... they usually last me close to 3 - 4 months at a time.

Coals are the same, packing technique, tinfoil, water levels... all the same...

the way i pack the bowl, I used to feather the tobacco in lightly. Not packing it down... After it started acting up, i consulted a friend who works at a hookah lounge, and he recommend I dry the tobacco with a papertowel / rag and get as much of the juice off the tobacco as possible.
All of which turned no different result.

The Ice is helping a little... at least the heat is bearable .... but still slightly unpleasant . I use one 3kings coal, which is like I've always done.

does this happen with any flavor of AF? I just think it has to do with the wetness and stuff in the tobacco itself. I had the same problem and could never figure out how to fix it. thats why i dont smoke much Af anymore. Play around with the packing and heat some more. Smaller pieces of coal scattered around the bowl..?

No need to dry the tobacco. If anything your making it burn more. I assume since your only using one coal your putting it right in the middle. Break it in half before you light it and then put the halves on opposite edges of the bowl. Not in the center. Also if your washing your hoses and they are not a nammor, razan, narbish or grand caravan washable then that is a big nono. Normal hoses have a metal coil on the inside of them and WILL rust if you wash them. You dont want to be inhaling rust....so dont wash your hoses unless they are a washable hose which is made from plastic only.

no one has mentioned this yet, but i smoked for 4 years before i ran into this issue.

do you snore? do you wake up with a dry throat? It could be that your throat is irritated by snoring, dehydration, smoking, or a combination of all three. If you answered yes, go to your local ear nose and throat doctor, you may have a surprise in store! (like a damn polyp).

to me it sounds like too much heat or maybe the tobacco has dried out and is old. try experimenting with heat, like everyone else said

to answer about the pylop thing... this would affect me with any hookah i smoked no? Not just mine? Cause I went to a hookah bar today and smoked for like 4 hours while studying with no problems at all... :(

I bought a new hose while i was there, lets hope for the best

Well, the only thing that should be hot is your coals, and the stem should cool down that heat before it even gets to your water. the cooling off period in the vase should be more than enough heat reduction before worrying about any heat getting into your hose, let alone all the way down your hose and into your mouth! I say someone poured tobasco sauce into/onto your hose.

I got a new hose. With the frozen capsule you put inside the mouth part. Sweet hose...

and a new bowl, all is well.. so something between the bowl to the hose was causing it to over heat. I think it was the hose, it had an easier pull and caused for a greater airflow... but all in all, thanks for the reply, glad i don't have some throat cancer lol... and my hookah is smoking fine now!

glad you got it working alright for you...but I'm surprised no-one pointed out what I think it might be

...well hose wouldn't cause it to be overheated and the ice capsules could be masking the problem/it could still be occurring without your knowledge now. you are using the same amount of coals you always did but drying the tobacco, drying the tobacco might cause burning but not unbearably hot smoke.

what I'm thinking, now bear with me...the whole reason there is the water in the vase is to cool the smoke down. You said that ice in the vase was not really helping. What I'm thinking is that with your hookah being 6years old, it could be starting to "go" as in falling apart/breaking. What I'm thinking is there is an issue in the heart like a crack in the downstem at the heart or something in that area that the smoke is not traveling through the water and is going straight to the hose...so, the smoke is not cooled and you are getting the fresh hot smoke straight from the bowl and coals.

First thing that popped into my mind when I read this
