New Syrian Trumpet Vase

Recommended Posts

Hass is bringing me back this nice vase he found in Beirut. He'll be coming back to the States end of May and will ship it to me. First off, I'd like to give HUGE thanks to Hass for doing this for me. I think the vase is quite nice. Looks like gold coloring and clear. But here's my problem- what shank should I put it on?! I think it'd go great on either. If it goes on the OG Tri, I'll be selling the KM clear custom vase most likely, or may hang on to it as a backup, not sure. If it goes on the Nawras, the 10" Egermann boho will be sold. Since I do not have the vase yet, I cannot try it on both and take pics. But once I do get it, I will do that. Right now I'm just looking to get opinions. So what do you guys think about the vase and also what shank it should go on?

Again, thanks Hass!!!

og tri imo. the copper tones would play well with the base colors. the shape lends to it as well. i think the syrian would end up looking like the tip of a pencil on it. starts wide and gets more and more pointy... og tri for sure

I say Syrian only cos I like that Nawras a lot more. By the way I'm back beginning of May :)

For what it's worth by the way, over here, they only use REALLY tall stems with those glasses, such that the total height is around 40" or so

By the way, it's clear, but with a very subtle blue tint, not just uncolored clear like your stripped and decalled KM. Also what looks gold is sort of irridescent, in that it changes slightly based on light and the angle

ALSO, (third edit here), the opening is pretty narrow, so definitely do not use an Egyptian style base grommet, I think a Mya style silicone one would be best

i hate you, chris. i am so jealous

og tri, for sure, though. i think the boho on the syrian looks great
also, the og has a longer down-pipe and i feel like you'd have to fill it up a good amount already for the og tri

Despite what I said, this is a very good point

Well, popular vote seems to be OG Tri, haha. I can't wait to see the color of it in person, Hass. I bet it looks amazing. Hell, it looks great already in the pic!

Anyone have a spare thin grommet laying around?

Nice Vase!

My vote is the OG as well ;)

And yes, those vases do typically have a slightly narrower opening than the Egyptian vases. May have to either sand down your current grommet or pick up a thinner silicone grommet like Hass said.

Can't wait to see this paired up!

I'll take off the gasket I have on my Nawras and post a pic of it. See if someone can't point me in the right direction as to where to get another one. It's a lot sturdier than the Mya ones.

1) I hate you, Chris. :(
2) Nawras

1) I love you, Mitch. :)
2) You have like a freakin' million gazillion nice vases and shanks, haha. I envy YOU.
3. Thanks for your opinion. Right now it's still undecided until I get it, of course.

I think it'd look sexy with the Nawras

edit: you should sell me your boho :P

Lol, I should've known the offers for the boho would start flooding in.

I'll trade you a boho for it. I will have 4 more by next week. :D

Hahahahahahaha... no. I might be selling/trading that red/black small phunnel sometime, though, if you're interested. I hardly ever use it anymore.

Nice vase, I've seen those before, but hardly in the US. Good job.

Thanks, but all credit goes to Hassouni. Huge props to a great guy.

I agree with hass, imo trumpets look kind of funny on Egyptian pipes which tend to have a wider, bulky build.

Won't the best solution be to see which of the two looks better on it once it arrives?

Yes yes, but I have a plan... so ssshhhh!
