REVIEW: Taqseem Stargate Rotator Glow In The Dark

Recommended Posts

I just got my order in from Taqseem. Brand new 3 Hose Rotator Stargate in Black Nickel. Got it for $100 shipped same as ebay price, however Sammir threw in an extra bowl and some shisha for being a hookahforum member. Let me tell you this is one beautiful hookah, everything looks great and im sure the pics will speak for itself. The case is really nice too. I have not smoked out of it yet but i cant wait to in the next few days and give you guys a review, for now here are some unboxing pics!Just out of the box we have a nice hardcase with combo lock, same color as the hookahNice official stargate logo on the front to make sure you didnt get a knockoffJust popped open the case, and wow packed with goodies all nicely sealed. One quirk i have with the case is that its so tightly packed that once your remove everything its difficult to find a way to put it all back together to make it close, luckily i remembered exactly how they packed itHeres everything once its been pulled out, notice the shisha was not inside the caseHere is is jar, i think its some kind of plastic, its not glass though, because it doesnt feel like it and its not as heavybut definatly sturdierhere is the nice tray, very clean and shiny right now, hope it stays that wayNice ceramic bowl same color as the hookahAn extra bowl, with metal screen for the fans of metal screens, which is personally loveCheck out the tongs, very nice, although i wish they had the teeth and grabber on it like other tongs so its easierto carry tongs, i found these tongs its harder to hold the coals, ow well +1 for styleHere it is assembled, with the hoses, downward viewHere is a regular shot of it, the thing is huge!and finally an upward shot of it, looks like its touching the roof but its notInitial impressions is that it is very nice, nicely engraved with taqseem.com on the parts, nice polished metal look. The Jar screws into a base piece, then the center thing with the hoses screws into the top of the jar, but first you have to screw in the shank into the center piece. Then the nice long shaft goes in before you put a tray and bowl and attatch the hoses. The hookah is AUTO-SEAL and it comes up to 4 hoses, i opted for 3. The 4th hose plug has a valve with ball bearing in it.The glow shaft is another feature of the hookah, but dont let this feature sell you the hookah, it has a glow in the dark look in a pitch black room, but its very faint. However i did have my trust Blacklight with me to test out the real glow in the dark Wow big difference! Actually i couldnt even take a pic of it without the UV because it was so faint. However thisis with a blacklight about a few inches away from the hookah, i wonder if it will be as bright in a room??another viewAnd there you have it, my initial review of the Taqseem hookah. Check back here for more pics when i have my smoking sessions. If you have any questions feel free to ask, since taqseem is impossible to get a hold of, cheers!-djnick/ HF resident smoker

Whoa. That is one interesting looking hookah! My first impression looking at it was that it was sorta dull (No offense intended!); but that glow in the dark look with the black light is incredibly gorgeous. Its making me want to open up a black light hookah bar! haha
Nice pictures.  Is it stable?  Looks tall!  Let us know how it smokes!
So far it seems stable, it has a lot weight so it wont move around, but if it gets bumped and tips enough it will fall hard, good thing is that it rotates so no need to worry about people snagging it. More to come!
Gr, this makes me want to go out and buy one!  Can you give some measurements on the base, incase someone wanted to replace it with glass? Thanks!
ill get them for you when i get a chance, although i dont see how you can replace the base because of the way the jar screws in, anyways if anyone else has questions let me know, im dying to smoke it!

Are you going to smoke with the bowl/cover combo? I'm very interested in how those change the heat management, if any. And congrats, very nice looking hookah. I really like how the stem portion screws onto the base, my rotator is a bit*h to get the top off and actually fill with ice as well as clean. this def. looks like it may be a replacement...

yeah, second jeff T, i was looking at one of those windcover, screeen clip doodeedabs. how are they with heat? on the h-s website, they warn it can get hot to unclip so i imagine this could get annoying havingt o deal with coal rotation?but whats it like, because im sure it could save a lot of burnt carpets lolAlso, sweet hookah. never have been a big fan of rotators, but i love the stem. so prettyful, especially with the black light.Whats the case like aswell? how well and stable does it hold everything?

MrGuy; I went to my local shop and bought a new bowl (damned cat knocked over my other one and it broke) and it was 2$ extra for one that looks identical to his actually. (I think i paid 11$ for it? probably too much). But I was smoking layalina cherry mixed with splash cola and couldn't get a whole lot of smoke from it, and then I tried the cover. BAM. tons of smoke. it was perfect. Granted; this was using only 1 japanese coal. But that 1 coal was plenty once the cover was on. And the clip was warm, but not too hot to move, though I needed the tongs to lift up the cover and to lower it.One problem i had, which i suppose explains why everyone here uses multiple coals, is that the metal grill has so many holes that are so large, that when you inhale it pulls air from everywhere except the coal.

hmmm okies, i might consider investing in one of them. how big is the bowl thingy that you get with it? approx. how many grams can it hold?I intend to smoke outside a lot and on the rare occaision i smoke inside, knocking it over sending coals everywhere would result in my death.

umm, I'm not sure how big a bowl it is as far as gram holding size, but its identical to his in the picture. I'm going to assume from the amount of peach that I put in vs what is left of my 50g peach that it is somewhere between 10-15 grams?I don't know what a normal bowl is, or how tightly you guys pack it though. All I can say is it was slightly bigger than the bowl that came with my hookah, and it was basically the same size as every bowl I've seen. When i go down to the garage later I can measure it for you

I use one of the two stem-parts with mine, it feels alot more stable and it is easier to smoke ... But the freakin littl emetal ball always gets stuck when I blow air in it.. it is starting to piss me off. But it is a very smooth smoke ...

UPDATE:Smoked it for the first time last night, it was very nice! Filled the base about half way with water and ice, sealed it, then put in the ball bearings, plugged in the hoses. Lightly packed bowl with foil and 2 noor coals. Smoke was very smooth and thick even when everyone smoked at the same time. However i have to saw it felt like the ball bearings were contracting a lot of air, and that you had to take bigger pulls to get more smoke. So i tested it by taking out the bearings, and it hit a little better, but got harsher much faster. I'll have to experiment, but overall everyone that saw it said it was jaw droppingBuild Quality" everything looks magnificent, nice polished look, Parts screw in and off for easy clean, however some parts of the hookah they left a little glue on which made it look sloppy but otherwise it was good. 9/10Appearance: Very sexy and stylish, anyone that saw it was amazed. About 32", glow in the dark stem with blacklight present, nice rotate ability, makes passing the hoses easier. Nice polished finished makes it look like a ornament, not a hookah you smoke from 10/10Smokability" Very smooth all the way around, ball bearings make it so you dont have to plug your hoses but slightly affects the draw, taking out the balls gives bigger hits but also can get it harsher using the same ammount of coals. 9/10Accessories: Comes with 2 bowls, nice tongs, Very nice case with combinaton lock, everything screws down for easy cleaning. Didnt come with any cleaning supplies which is a bummer considering its a pain to clean since its so big with so many parts. 9/10Overall: I think this is the finest hookah you can get for the multihose system. Coming from a acrylic mya 3 hoser i knew what the expect. the Stargate smokes very smooth and looks beatiful, and is very unique. If your looking for a hookah to share among friend i highly recommend this one, and for the price with shipping and case you cant really beat it! 9/10 (not an average)
Nice! any problems with getting a good draw? using the ball bearings or what? what about the seal around the glass?
Well I got the two hose with autoseal, and yes I've noticed that the draw is a tad on the tighter side, but nothing major. I think I'm going to try your plan and just take out the ball bearing on the hose side. Other than that it smokes great, and looks sexy as hell ^_^As for the seal, I like it much better than on the original stargates. There is no metal against plastic, so nothing can wear down.
