antouwan
no. 1 what's the best way to clean these bad boys? no. 2 for those of you who have lebanese style hookahs, if you have these bowls, how do you get them to fit in the hookah? i bought two bowls but have only ever used one because the part of the bowl that fits into the hookah is SUPER narrow and i don't believe grommets big enough are made to fill such a gap. any ideas/suggestions welcome. thanks
king_lunchb0x
i do not own any crown bowls, but cleaning should be simple, warm water little bit of soap and a coarse sponge. Maybe a needle/toothpick to get those hard to reach spots. As for the bowl..does your bowl converter you said you got from HC doesnt work?
i tried steaming hot water and all of that. it usually does a pretty decent job on the outside - the problem is cleaning the inside of the bowls, especially the crown holes (idk what they're called) where everything passes through - the inside of those get FILTHY. i paid extra for lebanese fitting bowls. also, i tried the bowl converter over the weekend, but for some reason the bowls tend to lose the seal and become dangerously wobbly, even when using the usually rock-solid silicone gasket. (in fact, European Pyrex is made of borosilicate glass). these things are rather indestructible. i had my crown bowl wrapped in a shirt from my trip back from out of town (ironically, so it wouldn't get broken) and i forgot i had it wrapped in there. i flung the shirt out of my bad, throwing the head out, and it landed on the wood floor after being about 7' in the air and landing about 5' away from where i was standing. i almost had a heart attack, but it made it. king_lunchb0x
im not sure if you can reach the holes through the bottom Where is sits on the gasket but buy some of those long q-tips (cotton swab), you see them at dentist and docs office. see if you can get one up there and give it a scrub. sorry for large pic only one i could find

Where the hell have you been? no 2. Boiling is an option, but I soak all my bowls in water for 24 hrs. Phunnels, crowns, egyptians.... no 3. Never owned a leb pipe, but try stacking the silicone grommets til you can get a good fit. You could resort to the trusty wet paper towel, it might work?
haha i know i haven't been here in a while. shit's getting crazy these last semesters. sometimes i'm on the forum more than others - but i always come back. the soaking think sounds good. just water? soapy solution? i had a buddy who was told by his friend to clean his glassware in alcohol and salt in a plastic bag. anyone tried this? i tried stacking the gaskets. the problem is that the fitting is so narrow, the first one doesn't even fit on the bowl properly. poncho
91% alcohol and salt works great to clean! Interns of the fitting and it being dangerously loose, try to take some 120 grit sandpaper and rub the surface, this should scratch it up and give it some grip on the silicon. rahl071
I'm with Chris/Travis. Immediately after smoking, I run hot water through it, then soak it in hot water for a few hours. Looks fine.
K1024
soak it in water + oxiclean overnight. rinse and scrub a little and it should all come off. If not do the alcohol + salt shake. Oxiclean ftw.

To prevent this, wash it immediately following your smoke session. If you do this with every bowl, you won't ever have build-up issues. Soap + water and you're done. See, after many times of using them, mine still look brand new: And all I did was use soap and water and cleaned them right when I was done smoking. Hassouni
Khayyi I think you should just stick to a good ol clay ras. By the way there's a shop in Beirut now that has clay vortex-style inside fitting heads....
