jmini
So i got my very first hookah about a month ago but im not at all sure what it is. I got it at Holy Smokes (local smoke shop) and i never really asked what brand it was. it seems to be a pretty clean set up in my opinion. its about 16" so i guess thats a bit on the smaller side right? maybe i should've just gotten a bigger one but i was concerned about stashing it away when possible. so let me know if you have any idea what it is. i gotta stop at the smoke shop soon so i'll ask them as well. i don't mind tobacco but i guess most people rather have tea leaf shisha which is fine. im mostly interested in thick smoke to do tricks (who isn't) So if you have any quick tips for a beginner that'd be great. let me know what you think. thank guys
ahhhdam
Seems like a chinese clone to me (correct me if im wrong). Just wondering, do you live in Hawaii by chance (Oahu)? Welcome to the forum and if you do live on the island, I think it's best to buy shisha/hookahs online. We got a couple vendors that has a coupon code with the forum. On the top of my head: http://www.hookahjohn.com/ http://www.hookahcompany.com/ http://www.hookah-shisha.com/ http://www.nazarhookah.com/ These vendors are trusted and have been pretty good to me (shipping not too bad).
wow. thanks so much!!! yups livin in HI all my days i'd love to correct you, but i wouldn't be surprised if it was a cheepo brand either. *sigh. no but i really liked to base mostly and it works fine for my first hookah (i guess... right? lol.) maybe im just convincing myself. jp. Im debating to purchase a new bowl sometime, either a phunnel or vortex. seems like people are more into the phunnel bowls, moded/un moded. the whole purpose is really just to get thicker/tastier smoke. overall thicker smoke is the objective but im sure its my packing mostly. Im still doing some trial and error with my set up. i'll be sure to check those sites out for sure. i've went to one or two of those before sites before just to browse around. living in HI, shipping is always a pain. I may need to ask a couple more questions if you dont mind, but that'll be for later. thanks again so much.
LOL. why thank you. thats exactly what brought me to purchasing it in the first place. first night i set it up i had to really refrain from molesting its curves. lol. no no jp. mushrat
It may have no name and the brand may not be anything mainsteam. BUT if you like it and it smoke well who the hell cares what it's pedigree is.
Coyote
Oooh. Its so pretty! Def ask the shop who made it. How thick is the vase? Is it hand blown? How much was it? And most importantly, how does it smoke? My first hookah I got was a double hose and it was some no name brand but it was very well crafted and smoked great. It was small enough to put on the desk but substantial enough to take up onto the roof during parties. That one is not longer in my possession (ex didn't give it back even though he has no idea how to pack it) so I got a different one that was the same price but the quality was such shit. It was just cheap as can be in every way I ended up getting a KM from another member here. The 2nd little one is now used primarily as my outside hookah or countertop hookah when I'm cooking. My KM is nice but I want to different vase... I'm not into camels (sorry Josh). And if I'm going to get a different vase then I want a new stem... and a hose to match... which means I need to stick with what I have and stop being such a princess. Congrats on the new hookah! Get some Tangiers.
jmini
thanks Mushrat for the support. I guess it smokes good enough. I feel im just working out the set up to see what works best but i really don't have "that" much experience with other hookahs. so im somewhat shooting in the dark here. coyote, to answer some of your questions, the vase is pretty thick imo and its got some weight to keep it stable while smoking. looks like it could take some major beating so im not at all worried about it cracking. im not too sure how to tell if its hand blown or not so i really couldn't tell you that. all i know is that i love the look of this base. the only thing im concerned about is possibly the stem being a little short. i feel it could be longer so i can fill it with more smoke. i clean out my water each time so it doesn't matter to me how dirty it gets at the end of the day. the original price was 80 bucks but my local smoke shop had a *** sale so it came out to about 63ish. not bad i guess but i know online there are better deals, then again, you can never tell the quality there either. Overall i feel this thing smokes pretty well. but as i mentioned earlier to Mushrat, that i cannot say weather its my hookah/shisha/set up thats giving me my results. im learning each time trying different things to improve my smoke. i totally agree about design, its not that i don't like camels, i just don't want them on my hookah. lol. i like colors, so i got my hookah and what better colors then red, yellow, green? eventually i wanna get other stuff for this thing like a new bowl or mod my stem, but for now ima use it as is and go with it. thanks again for the encouraging words guys.

cotsi95
It looks like an older Sahara Smoke hookah to me. Check and see if you get a white powdery buildup after smoking. If you do then its definitely a Sahara Smoke hookah. Personally I think Sharahs are crap, but if it smokes well and you like it then who cares. method
the one thing i would worry about which i came across with small hookahs is the "welding line" along the inside diameter of the stem . if u have it , then im not even sure if its a good idea to clean it with water ... if u dont , a brush is a must for hookah owners , so get one like this or similar :

jmini
thanks Method for the heads up, but honestly im not at all too sure which part you're talking about. from what i see on my hookah is that it doesn't have too much welded sports on the bottom on the stem looks pretty clean to me but im really not too sure. thanks for lookin out though. come to think of it. the more i use my hookah the more i realize that my draw is kinda crappy. my stem is a bit on the smaller side i guess. but i've been thinking about buying knew hoses to help with the pull and also to better clean out residual smell from previous sessions. of course im more concerned about the pull more then anything. idk if its just my hoses or if its my stem thats restricting my pull. besides my bowl packing, i just tried blowing through my stem while cleaning and noticed that it was kinda hard as well. my question is, is what is the usual bore of the stem with hookahs that are on the smaller (16"-18"-20") side? i wanna believe that by changing my hoses i'll solve my hard pull problem because i see online that people have such an easy time pulling from a new nammor hose (watched countless video reviews). im hoping this will do the same for me but it might also just be my hookah itself thats tought to pull from. idk?I feel the same way about other vases too, guys. i mean there are many nice traditional bases but you see way too many of them. it doesn't set your hookah apart from others. im definitely gonna keep this base. anyone got insight about that? new hoses like nammor hoses probably the smaller ones just cuz my hookah isn't all that big anyway. anyway thanks again everyone, keep the suggestions or comments comming. it all really helps me grow my hookah knowledge.
