Shnordle
Is anyone else sick of this? You go to buy a hookah or related things, and these online vendors claim that they are in stock, and you don't find out that they are in fact NOT in stock until you click the description or actually order the bleedin thing. This has happened to me every time I even browse these vendor's sites. Vendors, update your pictures, and whether or not your items are in stock, because I now have to wait 4 weeks for my hookah, because you fools decided to leave a hookah showing as in stock. When did I find out it wasn't in stock? After I had already paid and YOU had taken the money. Get your shit sorted.

TheyCallMeDave
Well... This has never happened to me. I usually try and stick to a few vendors I know to stay away from that kind of problem, but every now and then I will dabble into a new vendor's site. Hope this works out for you, my best piece of advice is to stick to a few vendors you know and love.

ChicagoRSX
I haven't had that problem with hookahs yet, but I've only ordered from HS.com. I seem to run into this when looking for other things. Lol Thought I was alone in having this problem.

kvtaco17
Ill withhold most of what i want to say... But yes i can name two vendors that have done this too me... One fixed the problem the other took my money and substituted product and told me they would discount my next order... Don't let them pull the latter... Its a scam because when u go back they forget about u and try to make u feel like ur being unreasonable...
Shnordle
I won't say the vendors names because I am not sure what the forum rules are regarding that. However, this has happened to me twice on two well known hookah sites. I would go and get it from another vendor but its one of those situations where the composition is of the vase/tray/stem is not anywhere else. To add, I ordered two hookahs at the same time, and both had pieces that were not in stock, so now I am waiting a good month (estimate on their part) for my hookahs. It's not very professional. If a moderator gives me permission i will throw the names out there.

king_lunchb0x
yup i realized some vendors are very slow to updating info. you buy and pay for stuff then get a call saying there out of half of what you ordered
no longer welcome
If I may add, as a vendor, from a vendor pov. i've had issues where a consumer will order a flavor and by the time i go to pack the order the item is gone. it's not like it was gone the whole time, it just ran out before your order was packed. some items are inventoried on the site and others aren't and i'll explain why. in my shopping cart i can keep inventory, even by options (flavors) but if i make another sku for let's say Tangiers 3 packs, well inventory will not work, at all. so many of you have gotten that call from me, thanks for the order but cane mint just ran out, can you choose another flavor, and depending on the situation i may add something extra, or not. most customers are understandable bc they get the call the same day they placed the order and are made aware that i am going to get their order out that day. what i hate most, is when you order my last hookah of a certain model and i go to pack, and upon inspection there is something that will make it unsellable. for example, it's the last green pear i have, but the pear itself is cracked. or the hookah you ordered has a unique base and once it goes to packing i find that the base wobbles. again, many of you have gotten that call. under no circumstances do you get a surprise in your order, like, you order x-shisha's apple flavor and when you get the product it has x-shisha's banana flavor, or even worse y-shisha's apple flavor. you get a phone call first, making you aware, and giving you options. i have used the "can i get it in on the next order" option, but that is when you get the wrong flavor and it was just a mistake. making mistakes happen, it's how you resolve that's more important.
Well you have made understand more of the why. There is alot of factors that could come in to play, its just a bummer to expect something that has been paid for then they say no luck. But what can you do if its not available ,its just not available. Its good to see that your looking out for the customer on hookah orders. Some vendors have been known to ship hookahs with some damage and such.
IainUM
john, you run your site well. if there is something out of stock, you call them and try and fix it. that is awesome. i remember getting that call once when i ordered my first bag of tangiers lucid from you i know from experience, hookahset and i have had problems. they had a base in stock according to the website, but then i get my bank statement and see that it wasn't on there, i notice that something happened. apparently they did not update their site to list that they were out of stock on it, and there was a whole pain in the ass experience. That doesn't sound like they ran out when they were packing as john was talking about, that sounds like they just dont have the hookah in stock.
I can understand the whole hookah being broken or something else keeping you from shipping it, but in terms of running out of stock of a tobacco, that shouldn't happen. I have coded 4 e-commerce sites in my time, and all of them never had a problem with stock counts. There should be no reason it would be out unless you are also running a storefront. Even then whoever coded your site should have tied in the storefront's register to the main database, to make sure if someone tried to sell a tobacco that was already out of stock (due to an order having gone through) it should come up as unable to sell. Barring accidental miscounts when entering stock amounts, even adding a 3 pack of a brand shouldn't hurt stock counts. Most of the scripts I worked with would let you create packs like that, and use a single item in the back end to track stock counts for that specific item. But i do only have experience with building the sites, not actually running em
