CarePolice
What my friend does is just remove the frame over the burner and put them directly on the flame. Lights them up real quick.
Chreees
Totally possible with a gas stove. Best thing I've seen is a metal screen used over the flame, and the coals placed directly on it.
Mahir
yea, i use a small pan and just put them in there for a few min's.
Does this really work for you? I have never had any luck with this method. I just use a single coil burner because its not on my kitchen stove...and wont get all coal-y/ashy. Portable gas stove works too. But yea, the metal screen idea is definitely great. I would take off the grate over the burner and place a metal screen over top of the flame and place coals on top if I had a gas stove.
EvansLight
I use my gas stove all the time. I used to have a little propane burner that worked great, but its gone the way of the dodo. My gas stove has these little metal plates resting right over the burners, I just pop the coals on the edge of that, and flip 'em twice, and they are nice and glowing red in about 5-10 minutes, depending on if I use the regular burner, or the power burner
antouwan
doable. i used to when i lived in a house with gas. the best method is with a burner with a thing that coco nara makes in lebanon - it's basically a metal tube with a grate in it. not only does this supply a place for you to put the coals, but it also concentrates the heat - lighting them faster. i wouldn't imagine it being very difficult to make, actually. Click
If you can find a Walgreens near you, they sell a coil stove for 10 bucks. I've had mine for over 4 years without a single problem.
UltimateHookah
I've used both gas stove and coil burner. The coil burner is better because you don't want ash on your kitchen stove. Which do you guys think works quicker or is hotter? I've never timed it. I prefer the gas stove though as the coil burner leaves black marks on the coals and even ruins the flatness of them at times. But it's just cleaner and portable.
