Starwind
Getting ready to buy a new bowl for my hookah here soon. It will be my first upgrade from the basic one that comes with most hookahs. I want something for general use, but I'd like to try tangiers here in a bit down the road as well. Usually it's just me and 2 or 3 friends smoking. I'm curious to use the glass screen as well. Would a tangiers bowl be the best option? Or, would another brand be more viable? I've heard lower quality shisha doesn't smoke that well out of tangiers. Also, would I be good with a small or should I step up to a medium?

Starwind
Now that I think about it, I'd also really like to use glass screens if I can as well. Would there be any issues there with any of the bowls?

After reading the reviews here. (http://www.hookahforum.com/topic/23583-glass-screens/) the glass screens sounded like a great idea. I travel a lot with my hookah and many times forget foil. You'd think that'd be the one thing people have, but I have bad luck with that. Wasn't sure how well they'd sit on an Alien though.
I seriously disagree with this. I love using screens, and If I am not using my Phunnel bowls, then I use a metal screen with my standard bowls. If i could get my hands on a screen for my phunnel bowl, I would never touch foil again personally. It takes a different technique to use screens then foil, mainly because of the difference in heat transference (at least with metal screens) and I wouldn't doubt that would be the case (just in a different way) with glass screens. Back to subject at hand, I love my Tangiers Phunnels. I use them just about religiously; I only go back to standard bowls when I don't want to either smoke for 5 hours or waste a lot of tobacco. I have gotten a good 3-7 hours off the small Tangiers Phunnel depending on the tobacco I am smoking. I don't have any experience with glass bowls to comment on em, but I am getting one to review this week sometime
crown micro classic. even the crown 2.0 will be a big improvement over the phunnels. i get 2 rounds of coals (about 1hr 45mins) out of my standard, and it probably uses half or 5/8 of the tobacco of the alien. if you're only wanting to smoke for an hour, definitely go for the micro classic. a pinch of tobacco and you're set for an hour, and the clouds really don't suffer. anway, crown > any phunnel, imo. i haven't picked up a phunnel in about 2 months, and i smoke everyday, so that should say something... rahl071
The new micro classic has been discontinued indefinitely, for now at least. I say get a crown micro phunnel, but that's just because I've had really good experiences with mine.
Starwind
Does anyone know of glass filters for the crown micro or alien? That could be a deciding factor if one will work with filters over the other.
rahl071
Honestly, the glass screens will have to pretty much be made-to-fit. I know if you hit up Santino at crown he can and will almost assuredly make you one should you desire it.
