Concerning Palate

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I have a very concerning problem...

The first time I ever smoked hookah, we had this reallllly good strawberry kiwi flavor, and then went about our business the next day. The next time we packed it, it was a flavor called Golden Guava. It was absolutely TERRIBLE. Now the problem. Every time I smoke hookah now, all I taste is that wretched Golden Guava flavor. No matter what hookah I use. I've tried different hookahs, hookah bars, different flavors, everything. The only flavor I taste is Golden Guava. How do I get rid of this and get back to the palate I had with strawberry kiwi the first time?!

Thanks in advance for help.

It's not his hookah, he said it happens whenever and wherever he smokes now. It songs like you have developed a sort of mental block to it, you fear it tasting that bad so that's all your mind is getting. You need to relax, pick a shisha that is extremely sweet smelling, I can vouche for starbuzz exotic pomberry, but I know certain people here can advise on al fakr flavors like peach I believe. Once you smell the shisha, whatever flavor you use, you can relax in the fact that it's not the Shisha that scared your palate evidently. Maybe have a drink just to help you with the relaxing, hope this helps.

Wow! Never heard anything like that before, it does sound like a mental block as Chicagorsx mentioned.

I'd say try smelling the shisha before packing it, that way, you can convince yourself that what you're packing is definitely not guava and therefore you can't taste guava in it. The second step would be to pick a shisha with a strong flavour that cannot be mistaken for anything else, and considering that, flavours that come to mind are AF bubblegum, golden esk apple, strawberry, and mint.

Try one of those, as they are far from guava and have a very prominent flavour. Good luck!

If you really wanna clear your palate, you use thinly sliced ginger like they do before you eat sushi. Sounds more like a mental block like everyone say though. You may try something nonfruity with a really strong smell. That way to mind is at peak to know its not guava or anything similar.

I remember having something like that... couldn't smoke anything until I got really drunk. I didn't care about the flavour then and so it helped to bypass the 'barrier'... and next morning all went back to normal.

Forgetting the original taste by any means really helps.

You could try a total immersion in one single flavor... for example I'm eating cantaloupe with nakla sweet melon... if I made some juice with the cantaloupe too then all my taste buds would be able to pick up is the melon taste.

Did you try the kiwi strawberry again? Maybe go back to what you know you like.

smoke cardamom there is no possible way to mistake it for guava.
same with mint or earl grey.

I just smoked cardamom for the first time last week. That's a good flavor suggestion as it really doesn't taste like anything else. It did seem to leave quite the flavor stain when we switched it out though.
