I was outside with friends at a park near the neighborhood and the wind was blowing something awful. Made me not do it for about a month. Then finally tried again and got it right. The smoke coming off of my little 17" pumpkin hookah with Epic Smoke's: "The Hurricane" was amazing. Tasted kind of weird but that was just the coals. I have unknown brand quicklight coals that came with it and I didn't know to make them ash at least once before putting them on. Rookie mistakes but now I can say that I'm an avid smoker. First session ever - generic egyptian pipe loaded up with Nakhla Jasmine tobacco. I got sick as hell that night, but the stuff was so delicious I couldn't help doing it more.

i dont remember the exact first time i smoked a hookah

i do remember the occassion that made me start smoking a hookah tho . somewhere when i was 19-20 i threw few consecutive house parties , one kid was bringing it all the time , so i was smoking from time to time , but i was so drunk i didnt remember how it tastes , i was more exciting about the smoke ...

then few months later , instead of asking for ppl to bring a hookah and all , i made a bold decision and bought me a standard egyptian hookah , i even remember i paid for it 20$ and it had a red hose .

from that point on , i kept on smoking on weekly or so basis , and in the last few months it has changed to daily ... Edited May 17, 2011 by method

We had HookahHookah shisha and cottonballs as coals with no foil or screen. I'll let you guess how it went.

The first time I smoked hookah was at a friend's place. It was a pumpkin hookah with a straw like hose that was only half a meter long. But she had packed Afzal pan rasna (the only afzal flavour to date that is a staple for me) and it tasted very good, plus the four of us were childhood friends meeting after a loooonnnnngggg while so that alone just elevated the experience to a new level even if it was a crappy hookah.

My first experience with hookah was at Fumari's. It was really good. Good company, good hookah...just overall good. (Kinda why I'm still smoking 12 years later).

My first session I set up myself was with Nakhla Mandarin...I smoked for about 5 minutes, threw up and fell asleep for about 2 hours. It was pretty bad. Haha.

First time was in Memphis at the Oasis with Starbuzz out of Sahara Smoke hookahs with cheap Chinese hoses, mod bowls, and Exotica coals. Barely any smoke, but flavor was okay. No way for us to manage heat, and they didn't do it for us. I thought it was okay at the time, but expected more. When I got my own QT, I realized how much better it could be.

I can't be sure because its been a long time... but I think I went to a lounge that used to be in Baltimore called "Three Kings" or something. We sat down, got the recommended "Tropicana" flavor, played scrabble and drank Turkish coffee. The people were nice and checked to make sure we were having a good time and were comfortable. Not too long after that the place was bought by a younger relative who turned it into a nightclubesque lounge... but we had an ipod battle there one night and everyone danced to my songs. +1

First session was good..had my MYA QT, coco coals, and Starbuzz code 69. Now it went good for 2 reasons. I had a friend that had smoked a long time help me with the hookah and shisha I bought, second while waiting on my hookah to arrive I researched the heck out of it..lol and guess which place kept coming up when I googled it..tada HOOKAH FORUM..heheh so yeah I had a great head start

Chinese hookah, smoking behind a shed so no one could see, havana pom.... It was awesome! I couldn't ever imagine smoking any kind of tobacco product would produce such a vivid and smooth flavor. Amazing first experience, quality aside. I'll never forget it. Amazing to see where I am now, I wish I could go back and see how different it was... What the first taste was really like.

first time i smoked hookah was at a friends house, my best friend brought over his hookah he got from Egypt when he visited. It was Nak Strawberry, at that time I thought it was the greatest flavor in the world. I tried it out and it was love at first smoke.

My first smoke was TERRIBLE. we smoked out of a two hose inhale that was leaking, we used a cigarette lighter on some weird brand of shisha, but somehow at the time I still enjoyed it. I have to look back and laugh at it, and how far I've come.

My first smoke was good, despite being somewhat forgettable. I went to my lady's college to spend the weekend with her. We got back from diner and went and sat outside and fired it up. Can't remember the flavor as I didn't get much of it, think the bowl was poorly packed. But then started doing it more and more. Now I do hookah better then my lady, who got me into it.

first time was not so great, was at local lounge, me and 2 girls got a session, chilled outside. Dont remember trhe flavor but i do remember that it didn't matter cause i couldn't taste a damn thing, They put barely any coal on this cheap looking hookah and didn't give us tongs. Thin wispy smoke, the company was good and it was enough to spark my interest into this hobby. I haven't been to any lounges in a long time because i can produce better sessions then they have their, and alcohol is a lot cheaper!

Mine was at a Hookah lounge, and it actually wasn't bad. I was 16 or so at the time, and the place didn't card, but I remember going in thinking it was going to be like cigarettes, and coming out thinking that it was like a dream. I was thinking, the shit you can do with that smoke is amazing, it's smooth, tastes delicious.... And so I never stopped.
