Beck Atwell
I should use this as a double post to introduce myself and ask a question. My name is Beck Atwell, I live in Colorado and I started regularly smoking hookah a couple years ago. The very first time I tried was back in 2004 when I was trying to impress my girlfriend of the time. I thought the point was to hold in smoke as long as possible and then exhale. She was real impressed later that night when I couldn't stop throwing up. Wasn't till later that I tried it with ease and no girl to impress, that I really enjoyed it. My Question is: How often do you wash your washable hose? assuming you have one. Do you use any special solution, alcohol, lemon juice? Thanks, and nice to meet you all. Chreees
I do warm water with lemon juice and baking soda. I use a funnel to pour it all in there, and swish it back and forth. Repeated several times. Then warm water run through it to get it all out. Hang it to dry thoroughly. Also, hanging your hose right after you smoke helps as well.
TheyCallMeDave
For your hose, don't use anythign that isn't associated with cooking. I.E, orange glo, bathroom cleaner, kitchen leaner, not that I think your that dumb. Most people use anything from lemon juice or cold/warm water to vinegar, baking soda, or even vodka. It all depends. I find somethign with a strong acid or base, such as lemon juice or vinegar works best. swish it aorund a few times, and then rinse with warm water to remove taste of cleaning solution. It depends on how picky you are, when it comes to cleaning times/intervals. It isn't like a hookah, that needs a cleaning every day/other/few days. It needs a cleaning, when you are getting more flavors that just the one you are smoking, IMO. Also, I'm sure you know though, WASHABLE hoses can be washed. No other exceptions.
If you've ever looked into the hose while smoking, you'll see the smoke hovering inside of the hose, not going anywhere in between draws. Consider inhaling smoke the same as drinking from a straw. unless you blow hard out of the straw, there will be liquid in the hose. If you hang your hose in the center of the length of hose, it will in sense "hang it out to dry". This will clear the hose of any smoke "debris" and air our the length of hose. Blow through your hose thoroughly after each use, and hang it to air out after each session. This will help the longengevity of your hose life, and smokability. king_lunchb0x
about every 2 weeks i wash it with just warm water and do it like incubus: swish back and forth several times and hang dry for a while. Some flavors can ghost real bad so use the mix they mentioned. That's why a lot of people here use 1 certain hose for a certain flavor.
MichaelLCP
I wash my hoses a couple times a month. I use lemon juice and warm water. I used a funnel to get it in the hose then shake it around, pour it out, then rinse with cold water. Then hang to dry.
besos
I rinse it out with cold water with a garden hose on the jet setting every night I use it. Once a week, I'll use warm water + vinegar. Works like a charm. If you have a Nammor, remove the plastic part even if the nozzle fits or else it'll scrape off the tint/color.
antouwan
i mainly use nuhoses - and a narb every now and then (i'm currently using it with my leb rig) i really only wash the nuhoses because it's so convenient and you can see how dirty it is and then clean it is after (like a glass head) i clean the tips of my narb though...yeah, that's what she said
mitchard
I advise against using lemon juice. It seems to break down the glue pretty fast. Its killed a couple Narbs and all of the Razans I have owned. Stick to just water. Be sure to hang them dry too so that all of the water gets out and doesnt just sit in there.

Seeing all the chemicals that go into plastic is likely what makes me uneasy. I'm sure it's the lightest hose you have though, yes?

It would be nice to have a hose with no adhesive.

Seeing all the chemicals that go into plastic is likely what makes me uneasy. I'm sure it's the lightest hose you have though, yes?
i actually thought about this but didn't worry about it. most of the time when chemicals are leached off of plastics, it's due to exposure from heat. the hose never really gets hot. i mean i wash them in warm temperature water but nothing crazy. not to mention, the liners on those washable hoses aren't exactly made here; they're either made in the countries the rest of the hoses are made in (Egypt or possibly Jordan) or china. and what do you think the magical lining is that makes them either rust-proof, washable, or both? yeah, it's that evil plastic. don't get me wrong, i try and avoid drinking out of the stuff and putting my food in plastic containers and what not, but when it comes to using them as a hose, pretty much all hoses use plastic liners or other elements. not to mention, i'd probably rather breath from a plastic tube that isn't really being heated enough to release anything than from a metal/leather/plastic hose that allows me to inhale particles long story short = chemikillz > partikillz
