I got engaged!

I never thought I would be so excited to say I'd be spending the rest of my life with one person, but I really am. I proposed today and it went off without a hitch. Just wanted to let my hookah family know ;)

Hey guys sorry I haven't responded sooner, been visiting parents here and there to celebrate with them.

Well here's how it went down and it took a little bit of planning (if I can pat myself on the back a little bit for it) but it wouldn't have been possible without the help of some awesome people.

It started over a month ago when I put out an ad for guitar players since I can't play the guitar to save my life lol. I got in touch with some of them, got some demos, just to see how they were. I finally settled on a guy named Jimmy Dasher (awesome guy btw) to play a particular song for me. Question by Old97s.

She's a piano player and getting a degree in it, so she loves music, so I had to have that involved. I got a time and place picked out in Raleigh, NC around one park. And she wanted to get her nails done and things like that before we got engaged so I made sure she "won a contest" at one place and her mom took her out for something else.

So Saturday Rolls around (when the world was going to end you know lol) and her parents created a back story saying they needed to be in Raleigh to talk business with someone near by the park and we could just wait there for them because there was a restaurant about a block away they wanted to go to. (Side note: we're close with her parents, hang out all the time, etc so it wasn't unusual) Then halfway there my guitar guy calls and tells me there is a festival going on in the park i picked out and the streets are blocked off. So without letting her in on it I asked him to look around, and had her parents get together with him, they transported him a few blocks away to the civil war park in Raleigh which is beautiful this time of year. Put him on a bench and hid (because I knew she wanted them there).

So we park and walk over to meet them via the instructions her mom called and told us and said they'd only be a few more minutes. I saw the guitar guy and was like well while we're waiting might as well enjoy ourselves. After he finished his song he started talking to us telling us he was promoting his gig that night and wondered if we had time for at least one more song. So he started playing question, halfway through I got down on one knee and booooooom i proposed ;)

* her parents were hidden about 20 feet behind us and they came out, and a mob of people (not my doing lol) came by and all started congratulating her because they saw it.

Then we went to our reservations I had set and there were flowers waiting at the table with a card telling her how happy i was that she was my fiance.

- The End-

ps: sorry about it being so long, I'm a detail person.

That's cool. Sounds like my idea of 'romanticism.'

We dated for about five years and one day, on a whim, I said,

"So, we going to get married or what?"

Been my Old Lady ever since. Better than a quarter century since we got married.

Lots of time, water, headaches went under that bridge. But hey, if a grumpy, old ex-biker can hold it together well, anyone can.

We wish you all the best.
