Just Opened A Pack Of Nakhla

Recommended Posts

I bought a pack of Nakhla cherry, 250 gr., at $10. The smell was just frickin awesome! However, when I started to pack the bowl, I noticed that the tobacco was a bit dry-ish. Do any of you get the same impression when opening Nakhla?

Despite the lack of fluids, it smoked just fine for 1:30 hours, with 2 "Coco-Coal" squares. The taste was very vivid, and I still feel it in my throat about half an hour after smoking. I baked the crap out of it and it just kept releasing more. I noticed that, when cleaning the bowl, the tobacco was baked dry and black. I guess it's because of the lack of liquid. I'm just wondering if this happens with all Nakhla tobacco.

Exactly what I thought. It's been a year and a half since I ever even smelled Nakhla, so I guess I don't remember. It's an awesome smoke, and much cheaper than other brands. Heck... I don't even know why I should buy anything else.

Nak is always much drier than AF, as well as Tangiers/JM/ American brands I've tried. It usually smokes OK regardless, although I've taken to storing it in flat-topped coffee jars that can (and should) be inverted periodically to let what little juice there is ooze through the shisha. I pack from the wettest part, then invert the jar to redistribute the juice. I've tried adding glycerine to some old, dried out Nak DA and it did revive it massively, seriously improving the smoke quality, although flavour was somewhat dilute. Certainly worth playing with.

Here in Britain, Nak is what the Middle Eastern community chooses to import, mostly, and it's cheaper and easier to buy than just about anything else. I do buy other brands as well though, just for a variety of flavour and experience; Nak is limited in the flavours they produce at all, and of those, you'll probably find half of them you don't like. Their mandarin flavour is divine, as is the apple eskandarani...
