shishologist
I made my own shisha from crushed tea leaves, not loose leaf tea. Of course, I felt it would burn quickly, and it did, but I got a nice smoke out of it and it had the taste of Ceylon. Here's what I did: 1: I mixed a few drops of 99% pure glycerin with acacia light honey in a 1:1 mixture. 2: I poured the mixture onto a small batch of like 5 grams of black tea and mixed it thoroughly. The tea didn't get so juicy and I left it alone for like 5 minutes to settle. Really, I guess I should leave it longer. NOTE: I didn't use leaves. I emptied packets of Ceylon tea into a plate. 3: I put the mixed batch of shisha into a shallow bowl I use for baking the crap out of shisha and getting a quick smoke. 4: I turned on a prismatic-shaped natural Syrian coal from "Green Plains." 5: I smoked the shisha, and got a pretty thick smoke out of it. The shisha baked fully in about 30 minutes and the bowl started dying around then. Smoke got a bit thin. Does anyone have any interesting things to enlighten me with? I think I did pretty good for my batch. I felt a real taste of Ceylon. Should I soak the tea next time, and use loose leaf tea? I also have another question. Since the tea is crushed into tiny bits, would it smoke better in a Tangiers Phunnel? I get the impression it doesn't let the shisha fall into the stem. Hassouni
Try using loose leaf tea soaked to unfurl the leaves
shishologist
I just used loose leaf green tea to make a shisha. I'll be reporting on how it smokes later on. I'm going to be on cam at tinychat smoking it when it's done marinating in the blend. I used about 60% glycerol 40% honey mixture. I added about 8 drops of concentrated natural lemon essence, which comes in those tiny little thin tubes. I added tea until it can no longer absorb the honey/glycerol mixture and left it to settle inside a sealed container. I have to say this is a much more professional attempt than last time. shishologist
OK. I smoked it. Tasted gnarly as hell. The shisha baked dry mid-session, and it seems like I put too much glycerine. Research time!
