Coal Screen <3 <3 <3

I friggin love my coal screen! I just noticed an increase in flavor, for some reason, and I don't have to pick up coals and move them around. I just grab the long end of the screen and move the screen. It's not as bad as others say!

That's REALLY strange. Every experience I've had with a screen has been horrible. Maybe you could possibly post some pictures of your form for packing the bowl?

I'll post tomorrow, if I remember. I'm rather busy, and tonight I'm sleepy as hell and with such a shisha buzz that I can't tell my fingers apart.

Let me describe it:

I pack the bowl REALLY loose. I take every single little bit of Nakhla tobacco and just let each individual little piece fall into the bowl. No pressing involved. I don't even touch the tobacco in the bowl during the packing process.

It seems Nakhla works best. Other "wetter" tobaccos don't smoke very well with a screen, but I've seen others say quite the contrary. I must tell you that I did write this post WHILE smoking with a screen, not after, and I did notice that the session is a little shorter with the screen, since it pulls in a lot of cold air onto the tobacco. Burning isn't a problem, especially with Nak. Let me know if this information is adequate.

Hmmm, that's strange that you say the cold air causes the session to be shorter. I think that its actually the fact that you have to pack it a lot looser than compared to with foil. To me, screens just don't work as well. Plus, if you accidently burn some tobacco to the bottom of the screen, it's a bitch to get it off.
Still interested in packing pictures and smoking pictures.

I actually pack it just as loose as I do with foil. The thing is that, since I put smaller holes in my foil, and a bit more spread out, the "steam" from the tobacco stays stuck where it should be, instead of releasing into the air, drying out the bowl a lot more slowly.

Well, I'm not bashing your style. Whatever works for you, go for it!
I just still don't feel like the holes make a large difference.
