shishologist
I just discovered cocobrico from a friend. It's a coal, much like coconara, but in the shape of a big fat brick. It lasts like 2 hours or more, and really feels pleasant. I had a bit of a burn using two of them, and it takes a while to get used to lighting them, but they're worth it, for anyone who is curious! Chreees
Yeah, I heard they were the shiznit. I'd still want to get them and try them, but I'm kind of over coconut coals now. I'm all about the Japanese coals now. I'd still try them I think if someone would import them to the United States.
squidget
how much bigger than CN cubes are they? I've become a fan of CN again thanks to the cubes. I start all my sessions with the them and finish with canaries (for laziness reasons)

shishologist
They are actually 2cm3. That is twice the size of a coconara. They're cubes. Banhammer guy: You mean Bamboocha coals? I've been meaning to try those.

shishologist
Those are badass but a bit pricey. Cocobrico here is 5 bucks a kilo, with 72 pieces per kilo. I bought 5 kilos. They might not come back in stock, since hookah isn't popular in Romania.

It's not that Adrock turned the feature off, it's that he upgraded the forum again and it took it away. Why Invision Power Board would add a feature then take it away, I have no clue. Kinda like why Premium Members now can't change their own title.
Balthazar
Yeah, Cocobricos is the only coal I order anymore. Probably because I smoke Nakhla 90% of the time, which can handle the heat these give. The duration is simply outstanding. I tried the Japanese coals that were mentioned in this thread some years ago, and my experience was that they packed the perfect heat for Tangiers, but that they would very easily break and lasted only for a good half hour. Are they more sturdy these days, or do people just not move them? I'm thinking about getting some lower heat coals and try out some Tangiers again ... Chreees
I never move my Golden Canaries. At all. I light the first ones using the stove's coil burner (but you can use a lighter if you wish, these coals act like quicklights pretty much), then I place them on the bowl. Three on my Tangiers Mini Phunnel or Small Phunnel. I don't touch them. After about 20-25 minutes, I snap some more and place the unlit squares directly on top of the lit ones. Give it about 5-10 minutes, the new ones are fully lit. After smoking with them stacked for a while, I'll take off the newest coals that were placed on top, then knock the tiny old pieces off, and put the newest lit ones back one. Repeat the whole process to add more coals.

Chreees
Not to mention that your bowl will go further and last longer if you use Jap coals as they're lower heat. When I take the foil off after using Golden Canaries, the tobacco isn't near as burnt as when I take the foil off after using Coconaras. This should apply to all brands of tobacco, not just Tangiers. I'd rather just plop new coals onto the lit ones than run back and forth to the stove to light new ones (and then have to go retrieve the coals once they're lit, and as Katie mentioned, have to move the coals around, ash them, etc.). Hassouni
CCN cubes aka Cocomazayas are indeed not as hot as CCN flats. Cocobricos, which are like GIGANTIC Cocomazayas, are a bit hotter, just because there's more of them.
