Extra Mint
i picked up al fakher lemon from dubai airport while coming back to UK and when ever i do it, this thing really gives me harsh smoke that i cant even take in, its nothing wrong with the shisha as i have been using it with all al fakher flavours since 3 years, the only difference i can see is that the lemon is very fresh, production date was last month and the tobbaco is well juicy, its full of juice compared to the others. any idea what i can do to get it better. onionz
Less heat is my guess.

vendetta_revived
You're smoking straight lemon? Hmmm...never thought of it. Well, I happened to have picked AF lemon for the first time today, only for mixes though, but I'll smoke it tomorrow and get back to you.
MichaelLCP
Some flavors/batches of AF are different when It comes to heat. Like I remember smoking Plum and it requiring very little hear, but then when I smoked Berry it required more. What I would do is mess around with coal placement. Also how many coals you put on each time.
king_lunchb0x
be sure to pack on the lighter side, to dense and you need to much heat to make good smoke also making it harsh. Edit: michael may be right based on flavors might be different tolerance of heat. maybe a little to much juice as well..its burning making it harsh. maybe try patting a little bit dry with a paper towel. not too much to rob it of all juice but just to get extra off Edited June 13, 2011 by king_lunchb0x
vendetta_revived
So I finally packed a bowl of straight lemon 20 mins ago and smoking it currently...idk what's up with it. Smoking with 3 quaeters on my crown micro phunnel, and it always gives me thick dense clouds but I am getting pretty wispy thin smoke 20 mins into the bowl.....even tried putting the fourth quarter, but it got harsh without much increase in smoke density. I've used up all the lemon in mixing......gonna pick up another 50gm sample next time and see if that goes any different.
squidget
I smoked straight lemon last week and it was as mentioned above. Harsh thin smoke. Never happened to me with AF before, I just assumed it was a bad box. Maybe lemon is not good by itself?
Click
I had half lemon and orange last week. The lemon came through too harsh, but was able to back off the heat a little bit to make it more enjoyable. Probably helped that it was only 50% lemon though. It may just be the flavor. It's similar to AF Watermelon - no matter how much heat it seems to have a harsh throat tickle.

Had some back in may only a 50g box but it was harsh couldn't get it to smoke right at all, had better experience with watermelon before tho

Never faced a problem with the throat tickle.
Click
Do you buy the 50g or 250g packs? The watermelon used to be brown in color and they changed it to red, I believe. That's when I noticed a change and the harsh tickle.
vendetta_revived
Well, 250gms are not widely available here, not in watermelon anyway, so I buy multiple 50gm packs.....well since I got into smoking hookah, all AF is dyed red.............would've been so much nicer if it wasn't.
