austin13
Hey i was wondering if you can light hookah coals on an electric stove? Im talking about the newer ones that are a completely flat surface and you turn a nob and it becomes red.
Stuie
No it will eventually crack the entire surface. Those are expensive to replace. Just get a portable one from Walgreens or Walmart

vendetta_revived
The flat surface ones will crack if you light coals on them - that's what the person who I got my electric coil burner told me, even when he would've earned more had I bought the flat one. I don't know the reason but my coil one is fine, though it has only been 3 months. I will back the comments already made and say get a coiled one. antouwan
use the coil stove - you can buy a single burner one from walgreens for like 15 bucks tops. my buddy didn't heed my advice and used the glass cooktop in his apartment. he cracked the whole cooktop. luckily, he reported it to the apartment complex and they swapped out his stove for free. still - i wouldn't recommend it. Stuie
When the coals light they get up to 600+ Degrees Fahrenheit in a single spot. Versus cooking on them which absorb and pass on the heat through the pan and into the food and across more surface area.

Like others said a cheap electric coil burner works fine. Or a propane torch
jorlyfish
Go with a coil burner. I think the airflow that happens underneath is a good thing as well... my coil burners have worked better than hotplates.
