Moose
I broke my bowl, and didn't have money for a new one. So, I decide to finally try out a fruit bowl. I messed up the first one, and only had one apple left, so I used the 2/5 left of the apple. I messed up the holes a bit on that (only the middle one), but it still works decently. Not the most shisha could fit in, but the smoke might actually be a bit thicker, dunno'.
TheyCallMeDave
Still haven't tried an apple bowl, or any fruit bowl as a matter of fact. I'll have to give it a try.
antouwan
a lebanese lounge close to my house does fruit bowls for some regular customers. i haven't tried it. for some reason though, they put a metal ring around where the holes are poked and the charcoals are placed in there. not sure why... Moose
Fruit bowl: Round two: Moose vs. Peach Bowl It didn't turn out well at all. Then again, only reason I even attempted was because it wasn't ripe, so it was far firmer than normal. It was either that or potato bowl, and I've heard that that's not very good at all... Bawhee
I tried with lemon once, the problem was that I was kinda drunk so it didint end up looking like much of a bowl and it wasnt very easy to smoke through, but it left a bit of flavor so I guess it was OK for a first try
vendetta_revived
A fruit bowl is only good for once in a while thing imo, you can't really substitute for a real bowl. I believe you can get an egyptian bowl for only a couple of bucks at hookahjohn.

â€On
I've tried doing Orange bowls, and they turned out okay. I basically made it into a funnel style bowl by cutting out around the outsides and keeping a funnel up the middle. It worked okay for a while, but once it started to dry out the taste got funky. Occasionally, it would be a bit restrictive. The stem and vase got really dirty. It was not worth it.
Moose
Ahh, a real bowl, end of silly fruit bowls. Still might make an apple bowl to show off sometime, it actually smoked pretty damn good.
Nazeli
it's pointless, it doesn't hold heat very well and forget about even heat distribution.

kmccoy90
Just a little tip: Carve the bowl out, stick it on the stem, cut that hole out so you can smoke through it, and then just stick a piece of steel wool over the single hole. It stops you from having to cut the holes out. That being said, I simply have no idea why people rave about fruit bowls. One crappy bar here does a half a pineapple... boggles my mind. Or, better yet, get a phunnel or something, and a couple cheap egyptian/syrian bowls to have as back-ups next time something like this happens. TheyCallMeDave
I figured with a pineapple, you could cut out five sections (bottom and four walls) and use the foil to hold them together. Granted, it's not completely stable, but it doesn't need to be. Just need to get it on the stem. This will save you fruit and (a fuck ton) of shisha from using a half of an entire pineapple. besos
My hookah lounge serves fruit bowls. Apple bowls are the hardest to carve due to size. Pineapples are easier (and tastes best in my opinion) because of the texture. However, you get about 3-4 bowls worth of tobacco due to it's size. It's also a pricier fruit. You basically want to carve them like phunnel bowls. Just making a huge hole with filters doesn't work quite as well. Moose
I know I said never again... but... Potato Bowl MK. 2 (' - ') Modified it in light of the previous one's failure, it's working far better. Still no apple bowl, certainly not a real bowl, but I've had worse.
