Purchasing Kms From Hookah Company

Recommended Posts

Hey HF, first time making a topic here...so hopefully I'm doing this right.

I'm considering purchasing a KM from hookahcompany.com I haven't seen some of the hookahs before and they're beautiful and reasonably priced. My questions are about the vases and trays. Some of these vases look fantastic in the pictures but remind me of my Nammor hookah base a lot in that it looked sick in the picture but when I got in person it wasn't as contrasted as I would like. I'm specifically referring to this hookah http://www.hookahcompany.com/oom_khalil_mamoon_hookah_5845_prd1.htm

The vase looks great but I don't want a washed out white when I get it. Any clue on how this is going to look in person?

Also, that hookah doesn't have a KM tray. I know it may be silly to some, but is that something important I should keep an eye out for? I've never owned a KM hookah before so I don't know everything about what I would be purchasing. However, I want to make sure i'm getting something of quality and not almost good. Any advice on this would be great.

Thanks!

It's hard to say exactly what that vase will look like, but I'm fairly certain it won't disappoint you. There really is no need to worry about the quality of KM stems as well. The only thing I can't speak of is the electroplating. That is fairly new for KM and maybe if somebody on here has purchased one they can tell you more about the quality of it.

Obviously the tray was selected to match the rest of the hookah and doesn't matter that it isn't KM, but it looks to me that it is quite a small diameter. It is nice having a wide tray for when coals rattle off and land in the tray. Otherwise you would end up burning holes in your table or carpet a lot. A KM tray is just over 7 inches in diameter and you can always buy one for 10 bucks.

Also, that hose may not be fully washable as suggested. I'm inclined to believe it still has a cardboard/paper constructed handle, which would get soggy and eventually fall apart. I'm not 100% positive as it's a newer item. I would call and ask them.

Thanks for the responses. They have some other charcoal colored stems that i think I might settle on instead. I already have a nammor hose so i was planning on using the new hose with this one for a specific flavor. Maybe make it a floral hose or something who knows. I can't get over how sweet that stem is. I think i'm going to pass on this base and get a different charcoal stem KM instead. I'll be sure to post pictures and a review when I get it.

I would purchase that KM with no worries.

But about the hose, it may be washable, if it is infact a new shipment of KM hoses that are now actually washable. George of HC told me the "rustproof" KM hoses were supposed to be washable, but that KM forgot to make the handle washable, so it was still cardboard and could fall apart, as Click said. George said this was to be resolved soon when KM shipped over the next batch. So these could very well be washable. I'd call/email and ask to make sure, though.

The base I've seen before and never seen complaints on it, so it should be good.

The stem is something new they're doing, and I'm sure they wouldn't do it if it wasn't of good quality. So that should be good.

The tray isn't KM, but George replaced it with a black one just to go with the flow of things. I'm sure if you wanted a regular KM tray for whatever reason, he'd replace it for you. Just depends, do you want it to match or do you really just want a KM tray?

I like this new electroplating thing they're doing... something new and different, and that's hard to do in the hookah market.

And I can only imagine the electroplating would offer more protection and better durability that should make the hookah last longer, considering it should strengthen the welding points and such.
