joetuo
Ok so I usually smoke with a screen and tonight I decided to try the foil method. I had about 30 holes in it that I made with a fork, maybe a little more. I was useing golden coals (1.5 of them) and every now and then I would take them off and ash them in the tray with my tongs.Near the end of my bowl the flavor started going away and I figured it was cause the shisha was done. After removing the tin foil there was so much friggin ash in my bowl it was crazy, even down the bowl and onto the grommit on the stem......What the hell did I do wrong and how do I fix this????? Hookah_bob2
Poke smaller holes..And personally, I don't ash my coals, but I also don't move them
Thadeus
You can also try poking less holes. I would suggest using a toothpick to poke your holes, as opposed to a fork, it will help you get them smaller.
Sonthert
Nothing's wrong. You don't have the ability to blow off the ash as easily with foil. Smaller holes make for worse airflow...flavor does fade away after a time, nothing mysterious there and ash doesn't hurt anything. In the olden days we never even used foil...just put the foil on top of the bowl.
