Smoking Noir And Lucid Together

Recommended Posts

Mostof the time, when it comes to mixing noir and lucid in a bowl, we've dismissed the concept seeing as noir and lucid have different smoking styles. I'm borrowing Claytronmeans's crown micro phunnel and thought I would try something new.

I've packed half of the phunnel with strawberry-kiwi noir, packed as noir should be. The other half of the phunnel has been packed with lucid new-lime/tropical punch mix, packed a little lighter, as lucid is normally packed. This is the layout for coals and holes:

[b]The hole pattern is for the different needs of heat management for each style of tobacco, and even more importantly, to remember where I packed each style of tangiers.

The coals are placed according to heat needs, noir side with a stone-henge style placement, and the lucid side with regular coal placement.

I've been smoking this bowl for about 15 minutes, and it's smoking just fine. I get strong notes of kiwi and tropical punch, with small bursts of strawberry and lime from pull to pull. The buzz is clearly evident while smoking and not a single trace of harshness has been detected. Has anyone ever tried this?

I lol'd.

Dave, I don't see the problem here. I pack lucid the same way that I pack Noir in the bowl and you've seen me smoke both perfectly fine out of that bowl with the same number of coals. As long as the Noir smokes fine, I don't see why you would need to go to the trouble of packing it any differently.

I see your point, valid. It's not about the actual packing, more along the lines that the two shisha has differences in their chemistry and how they are made that makes it better to smoke alone than together. Again, I agree packing style and heat management for some is about the same, but it's more about the fact that they both smoke better alone than mixed, so this way you get both.

EDIT: Also Clayton, I used this method because I finally got that S-K to smoke somewhat well, and didn't want to tarnish my chances by mixing noir and lucid. However, I didn't have enough of it left to smoke on it's own, so that's the mind baby that I created. LMAO

I suppose this could not only work for just tangiers noir/lucid for people who are nit picky about mixing the lines, but every brand out there. This gives you the opportunity to mix tobaccos that normally could never mix together.

Tangiers noir/lucid mixed with every other brand pretty much

Nakhla with every other brand pretty much

Just a thought, I don't expec this to grow, but for people who find mixes in shisha varying from brand or noir/.lucid line, this could help.

Yep.

But, I don't really treat Noir and Lucid differently. So, it's just "standard" mixing to me.

Also, there is more to consider regarding heat management when you have fairly vastly different hole patterns. Like Stuie said, it's a bit too much work to get right when you start dealing with brands with different heat tolerances.

Yeah, it's been my experience that Noir and Lucid mix just fine...

If you just smoke Noir you don't have this problem.
