Tballa
Hey everyone I got a new rotating hookah from one of my friends who is obsessed w/ hookah. Love it, produces lots of smoke but I've tried 4 different shishas and barely any flavor. WTF? When I smoke at my friends house I taste it well. Am I doing something wrong? I just get that "hookah taste" but can't taste the flavors.
Hookah Pimp
1st did you cleen the hookah 2nd what tobacco are you using 3rd what coals are you using 4th are you take care of your coals properly so the tobacco dose not burn5th is the hose old? one to many times i get complaints about not tasting flavor and the answer is if you mix to many favors it leaves a nasty resadu in the hose. so cleen the stem, and if the hose is "washable" run some white vinigar trough it then some water then blow out all the extra water in the hose and you should be all set if not send me a PM
Tballa
1) I clean it after every single use, i'm pretty crazy about that.2) I have splash margarita, al-waha peach, afzal blueberry, and layalina rasberry.3) I use golden coals4) not sure. All I do with the coal is light it and then leave it on there. I know that my friends take it off every once in awhile, but I tried that once and smoke stopped coming out.5) it could be old. I'm planning on getting a new fancy cobra one this week but I wash out the hose and blow it out after every usage.
Sonthert
Humidity shock, I would guess your house is air conditioned and your friends aren't (or vice versa). When you move tobacco from a dryed air (from air conditioning) to natural air, it requires acclimation.
Tballa
The thing tho is that I keep my shisha under my bed then take it out and smoke it in my room so it's always in the same room. When I smoke at my friends we smoke their shisha so idk.
Sonthert
Hmmm. Mysterious. Is your air conditioning on 24/7? does it have an energy saving function and change the setpoint at night?
Tballa
Im pretty sure that it is on 24/7. Im in Tucson, AZ so we would die w/o airconditioning. Its wierd though when I inhale the smoke I get a sweet taste in my mouth but I cant taste the flavor.
htdsngup
hahaha i get the same exact thing sometimes! I like ur use of "that hookah taste" me n my friends call it the middle eastern taste. Even though i geuss thats not politically correctAnyways, i find that even if the shisha isnt tasting full flavor, if u really shred it up, like pain in the ass tear that crap apart, the taste comes out much better.Apparantly people use herb grinders...i dont have a clean one lying around...but i guess that would work.I dont kno y, but my "Hookah Hookah" shisha never has a problem with flavor not comming out. NOt advertising, just curious y that y i have that shred up thing theory.anyways, i would say to be full proof, just make a bowl earliar in the day, then hit it later. And if that doesnt work, just hit Tangiers Kashmire Peace, cause i dont think that could EVER b flavorless.
Tessai
Did you recently eat some piping hot pizza and burn your tongue? It's happened to me. Take a break like a day or two come back to it and let me know.
Tballa
Hahaha thats hilarious and no I didnt burn my tongue its been like this for awhile. Im gonna try sitting a bowl out a couple hours before I use it. The other thing maybe I was thinking is that maybe Im puttin too much water in it becuase my friends use way less but thats the only difference in how we smoke and they get way more smoke and flavor. Could this be the problem because I dont think it could be any of the other things mentioned. Thanks for all of the help everyone!
EvansLight
The hose is a washable one right? Saw that you said you wash it after each, if so is it a washable one? And also from what ive heard even the washable ones really dont need it after each one.It also might be the water level. Not giving enough room in the smoke chamber for the, well smoke. Best to start messing around with diffrent water levels.Other than that, only thing i can think of is, well how do you handle the coals? Could be your burning the shisha a bit much, which gives more smoke, but less flawour. Using 1 coal? 2 Coals?
Sonthert
I doubt it is the amount of water. Water doesn't do that much to begin with, unless you have too much in which case it gets into the hose and rusts it. If you wash your hose each time, before you use it, make sure its dry. Other than that, I think there is something wrong with your essential setup that I can't put my finger on. Follow your friends, check out what they do and see what is different. malakas
If and when you get that flavor coming try enhancing the flavor by putting in some different liquids in the base. i.e. Pour some raspberry juice in your bowl along with your water when you smoke your layalina. How old is the shisha? If it's pretty old already you might want to think of marinating them in a little bit of fruit preserves. I myself haven't tried this but my friends say it works okay. Tballa
Yes i do wash the hose it is a washable one. I usually hang it to dry but I could do it for longer. I did try putting juice in the base and it tasted more flavorful. I'm trying to figure out what else could be the problem but I watch others smoke and even setup my frineds hookah and smoked it and it had flavor but not mine. Keep the suggestions coming. Haha. I am gonna try letting my hose dry for longer though.

Tballa
I've been smoking alot lately and smoked at my friends last night and today. Its been like thifor a month so I'd say not tongue bites or burns. haha. I realized after cleanig my hose the other night that it was starting to fall apart on the side so I just bought a new fancy cobra hose and we will see tonight if it is worth the $24.95 that I got it for. Whats baby shisha malakas?
malakas
Oh, nothing, just commenting on the "youngness" of your shisha. Start worrying about your shisha's age after like 6-7 months. Good luck with the cobra hose!
