Something You Should Try Out

Recommended Posts

Nowadays almost every hookah you find is going to have a grommet stopper or some piece of plastic, rubber or pvc what have you in it somewhere.
Wich you know is not all bad beacuse smoking a hookah thats not airtight is useless.
But these plastics and rubbers seriously impact the taste of your hookah.

Now something nice to try is to take out all the plastic, pvc or rubber you can find in your hookah (dont throw it away).
And replace it with Tissues (yep tissues thats basically the material they used to use to airtight their hookahs back in the day)
for your hose just wrap it around the tip of the hose same for the stem ect.
Just a warning this can get messy if you get the tissues wet and its always a heavy cleanup and it take some time to get it just right(try and get the tissue as snug as possible)
but its worth the smoke.
After your done with the work ready the hookah and take a smoke Youll be surprised by the difference. Edited by S3cretz

I've used both tissues, and gaskets/grommets, and I've never noticed ANY difference in how my hookah tastes using either? :-s

A lot of us here use damp paper towels for bowl and hose grommets...I do on a regular basis. It's not an issue of taste, it's an issue of better seal

I've been using a damp strip of paper towel as a gasket for both the bowl and hose and sometimes even the vase for a long time now. I'm a huge supporter of it and recommend it whenever I can. As for a difference in taste, I don't think so... It's just for the purpose of either creating the best seal that you can or in the situation that you find yourself without the proper gasket.

I use paper towel for the hose and the bowl. but for the stem into the base i use athletic tape. you can wrap it around until its the perfect size, and you can get a variety that's water proof.

Although this isn't an original idea, nor does it make a difference in taste, seeing as none of the plastic is used internally...

It shows you have initiative to improve your hookah experience, and you figured out how much of an improvement damp tissue/towels can be as grommets. Kudos to a forum member paving the way on the path to great sessions.

Keep smoking!
