Anyone Ever Get In A Smoking Rut?

Recommended Posts

Maybe I've just been doing it a while and I'm jaded, but you ever feel that when you eagerly pack your head, and get your coals going, that when you actually smoke it you just go "so what?" This has been happening to me a lot lately. I guess I sort of feel bored, and I feel that maybe (gasp) it isnt so good for me to be smoking as much as I do. Anyone else ever feel like this?

Take a quick break, just a few days or so. Or perhaps try some new stuff!

Sometimes when I smoke the same flavors too much, I get kinda worn out. It feels like I'm smoking out of habit at that point. So I usually look around a bit and see about trying out new stuff that sounds good.

A person should smoke their hookah because they want to. Not because they feel that they have to or because it's a habit.

I smoked hookah every day for a few months and got into that "rut". Now I smoke only on the weekends and it feels more like a treat than a chore.

I have smoked off and on for more than 7 years. Just take a few days off until you want it again. Try new flavors if there is one that really tempts you. I have a bad habit of getting in a rut, then spending money on shisha I don't like, end up throwing it away! The great thing about hookah is that it's not addictive, so taking some time off is no big deal.

All the time. That's why i have a box of random shisha. I usually buy a 50g of something every order i make and throw it in a box, I may pull out AF, AW, AT, whatever. Do that a few times and I am ready for Nakhla, Tangiers and Romman again.

ya 5ayi, bit7ess mitl heyke kamman.

i get like that every now and then, not all the time. i just got a new nour, so it's livened things up for me quite a bit for me.

i've actually gone in reverse, though. most people's remedies are almost always get something new, try new flavors this or that.

i'm going backward, it seems. I've consolidated, picked a few flavors I like, and got one, good, syrian pipe that i really like (i plan on posting up everything on here for sale this week) and that's really making me happy. one, loyal, pipe that i really enjoy and a few flavors.

i could really go for that right about now.

There have been times when I just didn't feel like smoking, but in those cases...I didn't smoke. I've never had a time when I set up a session "just because".

Smoke when you want and don't when you.....uhhhhh, don't?

^^ This. I only smoke when I am all like "Oh man let me pack a bowl of <Insert the flavour here> and relax for sometime". Currently, I feel like that twice a day, but sometimes I don't feel like that for days, so I don't smoke.

I think what I should have clarified is that 1. I don't smoke when I don't want to. I WANT to smoke, and I'm like ariiiight, coals going, gonna smoke soon, but then after a few minutes I'm like mehhh. 2. It's not an issue of smoking the same thing, I have more flavors now than I've ever had. 3. I don't smoke every day. The days I used to smoke every day I didn't feel like this, now it's usually 2-3 times a week

Absolutely! I was in a rut for a couple months and just a couple weeks ago I was all excited to smoke more. I got back on the forum from a little hiatus, bought 1 kilo of tangiers, a new bowl, etc. And now I have damn strep throat...in the summer. FML

That stinks! I hope you get rid of it soon!

Oh, I wouldn't consider that a rut. In fact, I was kinda known for smoking for 10-15 minutes and then calling it done.

As long as I enjoyed it for even a minute or two, it's worth it.

I mean yeah I do enjoy it for the first few minutes....it just seems like a waste of effort and tobacco to only smoke for 10 minutes....
