drumness15
Hi,My hookah used to work fine but now black particles are coming up with i hit it. Ive cleaned everything thoroughly. I talked to my local smoke shop and they said that you cant clean the hose with water; but i have a mya hose that im pretty sure is washable. If anyone has any idea where these black particles are coming from, please help me out! Thanks in advance
Glottis
I would also say that it's the hose. What I usually do is pull the hose out before I smoke and just blow into it really really hard for a minute or two, to get all the loose particles out of the way. If nothing comes out, not even dust, then obviously something else is making the particles.
nuschultz
Take your hose and whack it against the ground before blowing. It helps knock some of the stuff loose.Call Mya and see if your hose is washable. If it is, I usually use a 1:1 water:lemon juice mix to clean my hookah, hoses, stem, etc.Just so you are aware, you should not use the freshly washed hose for 3 to 4 days, because it will take time for it to dry. If the hose is not fully dry, you risk running the risk of residue from the smoke sticking to the inside of the hose, which can 1) make for a really bad smoke and 2) ruin your hose. Sonthert
According to Mahmood, all Mya hoses are washable. That being said, avod washing your hoses, except when necesary. Are the particles soft and squisyh rather than hard an sand like? It may be accumulated non-soluble components. Try vinegar, 10 %rubbing alcohol in water, beer or 10% vodka or rum in water. Wash the jar and shank pieces out well. Use your hookah brushes. It may be coming from the part of the stem that the hose plugs into. Could be the hose, too. Tessai
I never have that problem and I never wash my hoses. My friends get that because they just leave there hoses looped around there hookahs when there done smoking for days at a time.I personally detach my hoses and hang em up on my closet's doorknob when I'm done. Before smoking blow into and suck on them for good measure also.I wonder if it has to do with the coals also ,because I use naturals and my friends use instants. Sonthert
Did you go to the beach and get sand in your Schlitz? Er your hose?
Buford
I occasionally run a small aquarium cleaning brush through my hose, with water. The brush handle isn't long enough to get all that far into the hose, but scrubbing out the end that attaches to the hookah always removes tons of black particulate crud. I also have a Mya hose.
