Metal Screen

I have a metal screen for my hookah, but I can never get the thing to work as well as foil. Even with multible coals, the thing just doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

For me my screen worked like shit, until I put the wind cover on; suddenly it worked way better than foil did for me.

whats this i hear? the screen has worked beautifully for me. good enough for me to swear off of foil for good!

I, too, have much success with screens. I followed Tangier's advice and tried to make holes with a fork and it seemed to work better than my prior experiments. However, I am out of foil now so when I smoke tonite, it will be with a screen. I am almost out of shisha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Screens for life. No foil, unless I am at the lounge. Then I dont have a choice.

I've had some really great smokes using screens -- some of my best, actually. But whenever I can't get a good smoke I always blame the screen and switch to foil. Don't know whether or not it ever actually is the cause of the problem though, because whenever something goes wrong I change like 3 variables at once to try to solve the problem... not the best way to troubleshoot, I guess. One thing I don't like about screens is that it's hard to find them in different sizes. I don't plan on ever finding a screen large enough to use with the Tangiers head...

make sure you dont use the same screen too many times. If the shisha ever touches it it will burn onto it, and next time you smoke it youll get a weird flavour. But for the most part i love the screens. Saves time and trouble, and for those of us who suck at poking the holes in the foil, it helps a whole lot

for a while i was smoking with only my glass bowl and glass screen, but lately i've been going with the tangiers bowl and foil. the foil has been giving me some good smokes. I did use a screen all the time with my old hookah, the way i would use it is fill the bowl to the rim and flip the screen over so instead of _______/ it was reverse, made enough room for lots of shisha and no burning.

for some reason, the only time's I've smoked with a screen, I got this real metallic taste. Not like burning shisha and it wasn't really what I'd call harsh but it was a lil metallicy in taste. It was with the same hookah both times so I'm not gonna rule that out.
