New Clear Hose

Recommended Posts

Today I got bored so I went to Home Depot and got some clear tubing and brass connectors. The pics below are my attempts at making a clear hose.Tried it out tonight and it smokes like a champ! Clearing the hookah is so cool cause you can see the smoke leave the hose. This is the connector I used. The finished product.Another shot.Tell me what you guys think!TYLER

indeed a how to would be nice, what type and size of piping and connectors, and how mch it all cost, and also how'd you get the end pieces off your old hose. I have to say thought that out of all the homemade hoses thats up there with the best, the brass connectors were a nice touch, bravo!

skiracerj1 - leather hoses, as tangier pointed out in an earlier thread, are not entirely washable. The leather bit isnt, but the mouth end and connector end are, so you can detach them quite easily to clean.looks pretty nice. now all we need is a transparent stem!

That is cool. But how stiff is it compared to most hookah hoses? I had thought about making one with either silicone hose (like the pimped out foreign cars) or surgical rubber tubing. But neither is clear and both are pricey at least from the sources I have locally. A 5 foot hose would cost $20 in tubing for the silicone :(

They sell them...hookahs with clear hoses...they are called bongs. Yashman, taking a vacation right now, is the resident expert on rigging Home Depot shit together. Once he made a rowboat from stuff from Lowe's dumpster.

Thanks for the compliments!I bought two different sizes of PVC tubing. The main section is 3/4"OD, 5/8" ID PVC tubing. 10' is $10. The brass connectors are like $3 each. The smaller tubing (going into the handle and stem connector) is 5/8"OD, 1/2"ID (though it might be 1/2"OD, 3/8"ID) PVC. It was only $5 for 10'. So all in all it was like $24 for all the parts, but I have another hose length worth of the big stuff and like 9.5 feet left of the smaller stuff. I'll look around sometime for cheaper brass connectors, I just saw these ones by the tubing and thought it'd be cool.So to make a hose like this, at least on impulse, is around $20. To make it with the regular size tubing like is already on your hose, it'd be around $10.TYLER

I'm pretty sure that putting a clear hose on a hookah doesn't instantly qualify it for "bong" status. Also, you can thank me for getting him on the PVC tube + hookah = crazy delicious thing. One day, when science allows it, we will craft entire hookahs from Home Depot. You know, when we have the technology, better, faster, stronger, etc.
