I would suggest a KM or Nour from HookahCompany for your needs, but you said you wanted to keep it small for travel. So if it needs to be small, I suggest any of the smaller Myas:

http://www.hookah-shisha.com/c-16-small-mya-hookahs-mini-hookahs.html

My personal favorite is the Mya QT. There's two styles- I prefer the one in the picture that comes with two hoses, not the "grenade" style one listed as a one-hose. But all Myas smoke the same, big or small, and can put out clouds just like a KM can. Remember, with Myas you can change the amount of hoses you have. You just unscrew the purge valve, and screw in a second hose port. They have the auto-seal system as well, so no worries about making sure your buddy plugs his hose while you take a pull. If you ever think you might be in a situation where the two-hose setup would be needed or come in handy, go ahead and order the two-hose setup. If you just think you'll never need it, and are okay with or prefer the "grenade" style QT better, then go for it. Or if you want a totally different Mya model, get it. All the stuff above about auto-seal and whatnot applies for all Mya models.

One thing I suggest is getting yourself a good hose. Hookah-Shisha makes the Nammor, an excellent washable. Perfect for the QT, whether you get the small or large one (I personally think the small is perfect for a QT or similar Mya model):

http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-1574-nammor-hookah-hoses.html

To me, a QT or similar Mya model (Bambino, Vento, Mono) is the perfect hookah for most or all situations. And the Nammor is the perfect hose overall. Can't beat it when it comes down to price, durability, and options.

Well, I am pretty sure Meduse makes small ones, and portable ones. If you're looking for a modern looking hookah they definetly have it down. From what I hear the quality is amazing. Only down side is the price, But if price really is not an issue for you, Then by all means. I hear they smoke amazingly well. I've never had a chance to try one. But yea... there is a thread around here somewhere about them

I've seen vortex bowls out there...do they really make a difference?
Yes, yes they do. They make you want to not smoke at all. :)

Get a Tangiers Small phunnel/Crown phunnel. Now those bowls make a difference, a positive one.

Crown Hookahs also makes a really nice all-glass hookah that I believe is cheaper than the cheapest Fumo:

Get a small Tangiers phunnel. It's the last bowl you'll ever need:

Well I will say this. I applaud you on being willing to throw down the big bucks to make the good smoke happen, no matter what. But you will learn when you buy your first legit rig, that coming on here and just asking for everything that is the best, buying it and then smoking might make for a good smoke, but it will never be "legendary" until you try things out for yourself, experiement, make mistakes, etc.

A lot of forum goes here would say the easier the draw, the better. Although I like an easy draw, I prefer one that make my inhale just a little bit harder than others. Again, it's finding all the nit picky things about your own session that will make it the most legendary for you. Deciding on which washable hose, since most are the same, do I like smokes from good quality bowls that hold little or more shisha, do I like a mild or strong buzz?

The possibilities are endless, and it's up to you to truly find the "legendary" session on your own, we can only give you recommendations from elements of our own legendary sessions.

---------AFTER ALL THAT.-----------------

People can say what they want about portability, I port around my four pound brass Temsah just fine. So for me, size isn't an issue. I would highyl recommend a temsah or khalil mamoon hoookahs, just because I have a soft spot for egyptian rigs, and both of them are outstanding.
"
Hoses. I would get a washable hose, not only for the fact that they are washable on the inside to wash out out flavors from leaving trace flavors, but their width is usually pretty big, giving a better air flow. Some popular washables are nammor, razan, narbish and the nuhose. Although you'll find khalil mamoon hoses to be non-washable, they have the same hose width as all the washables, and come in MUCH more appealing sytles/colors/textures/patterns, etc. and are great hoses to own.

Bowls. Traditional tobacco goes really well in a classic egyptian. I like mine glazed, becuase I don't like the clay feeling of unglazed bowls. More wet, modern tobacco such as tangiers woudl work best in a tangiers phunnel. This thing is badass. The airflow is comparable to if you were being born again. The flavor lasts longer, the session goes longer, and the overall quality of the session jumps up the ranks. No vortex. Period.

Hope this helped.

3) Oyster Fork

Not sure what coals you use but i will say al the coals we trust here.

Just a heads up, Sunriserection - someone pointed out to me that you used a word that's often used in reference to NHT devices in your original post. I edited it for you, but just keep an eye out for that kind of thing, mmmkay? :)

I agree with the Meduse hookahs. If price wasn't an issue for me I'd get one of their sniper models
how spendy are they???

I've heard some of the models are equal to a down payment on a car. I guess the average is around 700$ or so? That's for thier bigger models, thier smaller ones I have no idea. you have to email them on thier website to get a price. But yea - when we say pricey - we mean pricey

Not sure about the Sniper models but the a member here said he paid $1000 for his Nobel model, which he said was one of the cheaper ones. I can guess the snipers are 500 or so

@Hellz: The Grandes go for somewhere in the few thousand area. 700 is cheap for a Meduse and I dont think you'll see a Craft series(the "cheaper" series) for anything less than $1000.

I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon and agree with everyone about the Myas. I loved my QT (who got stolen by a roommate who moved out long ago.)

My go-to tiny travel hookah is a little green Mya Bambino named "Rick the Adventure Sphere" who's proven itself nigh indestructible...its got its issues, like being a constant one-hose hookah (and being tippy with large hoses). But I love this thing, its pretty and survives my very very active pet-filled home!
