wuttup. I used to be strong in college (putting up 300 bench 5 times, and leg pressing 1200 10+ reps)

Since then I had stopped lifting and now im cutting (weight, not wrists). Unfortunately its impossible to build muscle while cutting, so I may have to bulk once i like where I am. Fortunately though I have a big frame so I might not. We shall see next year....

True about muscle building while cutting. I have a body builder friend who loses alot of strength when cutting for a show. Did you have to stop lifting because of injury? I've had to do that many times. I had a partially torn pec back in 2008 that kept me from benching for a few months. I still exercised and lifted, just not bench. I have to exercise since I'm diabetic. It's a great way to keep the beetus at bay.

whats funny is I lifted from basically middle school through sophomore year of college. What made me stop was my trainer went to a gym I couldnt afford and I kind of stopped and put on more weight. I never ate right back then so I would stay the same BF% but gained strength like a possessed ox. Now the funny part is over all that time I never was injured once. Nothing.

Fast forward to now, I've been eating right and working out since November, have lost nearly 70 pounds, got a lot of strength back...but the downside? I've had 2 sinus surgeries (unrelated to lifting), my corneas shifted 20 degrees (unrelated to lifting), sprained foot, sprained ankle, heel spur, and tore a muscle in my wrist.

Recap: eat like a donkey, A OK. try to finally get fit: my body is made of porcelain.

I laugh about it now, I had some really frustrating times, but I figured itll make victory that much sweeter.

EDIT: and clay, I've read leangains ;)

Good on you for the weight loss and discipline. I feel your pain about the injuries. I've had a bunch and am currently battling plantar fasciitis (heel spur). Plantar fasciitis sucks and it has slowed me down. I don't go to the gym as much because of it. I was jogging pretty regularly for a couple of miles before the heel spur crap set in.

heel spur and planar faciatis are 2 different things. Heel spurs are generally caused by too tight of an achilles tendon, stretch and get some anti inflammatories. planar faciatis is in the sole of the foot, my ex had that once and she went to a doc and got a boot of some sort + anti inflamatories.

long story short, go see a doc lol

I have the beginnings of the heel spur. Podiatrist x-ray confirmed it. The plantar fasciitis is a bitch and I've tried everything the doc has advised me to do. Corticosteroids, ice, orthotics, Strassburg sock. I'm just now starting to heal. It is a pain in the ass....well foot :) Edited by bigpatvoodoodad
