king_lunchb0x
i usually use my tray to carry coal from stove to pipe. When its time for round 2 of coals take off the little pieces and put them back on the tray, Take off the bowl very carefully put it somewhere secure, take the tray back to the stove. Throw the coals on put back on hookah and throw back on the bowl. Maybe I should get a coal carrier so I dont have to keep taking my bowl off. That just sounds very inconvenient. I don't have a coal holder, but I just use a steel tray that I don't use for anything else. Got loads of steel trays lying around. rahl071
get a small aluminum skillet for coal transport. Don't pay for that huge bowl they sell on websites; it's a big dog water bowl they inflate and call a charcoal carrier. Shame about they mya; I have that exact configuration and it's way easier to clean than any of the others you're looking at, while also being built like a brick shithouse. Epoch
I use a little copper bucket. Keeps little coal flakes from floating away.
Burning
Just buy a hookah already!
You've got a point there, my friend.
I have a Kafe and 7 other hookahs, but the only 2 I primarily smoke out of are my Kafe and my Admiral with Nizbor bohemian base. It's a nice simple design with great draw. I would get that with a Crown Micro Phunnel for sure. For mu'assel recommendations, start off with Nakhla, Social Smoke, Al Fakher, and Tangiers Lucid.
Yeah, I like the Kafe. Reasonably priced, and I like the simple aesthetics. But the only place I can seem to find it is HookahSet. Sold as a 33" "Coffee" there if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for the Lucid recommendation. I hadn't considered it, but after reading a few reviews, I'm going to make that one of the first I try. I'm going to pick up that and some Social Smoke (trying to avoid any sort of a buzz).
I did mean the heba diffuser. My bad stupid auto complete on iPod touch.
Ah. That explains all of the matching typos.
I didn't order enough extras, just the bowl, hose, and some shisha. Now I have to get tongs, wind cover, coal holder, the nitty gritty stuff. However, I have already planned improvisations - a tea infuser spoon for the tongs, sink strainer for heating the coals on my stove and a ceramic ramekin to carry them to my hookah, maybe an empty Arizona Ice Tea can for the wind cover (or judicious use of foil).
Yep. I'm going to forgo a windcover for now. I've got a cast iron pot somewhere that I picked up at Goodwill that I plan to use as a coal carrier. I have some tongs I picked up at Goodwill. I think I'll just have to adjust them a bit to improve the grip. Good idea on the ramekin. And the can. I'll explore some options there. I have yet to dig into the DIY forum sections yet. Are you vouching for it? I haven't written it off yet. Getting some quality shisha upfront is a bigger priority for me than getting the best-looking pipe right away. So I'm sorting out how to order Social Smoke and Tangiers lucid and the pipe and coals in the most efficient way possible. I'm considering the MZ Orion on SocialSmoke.com and the Mozza on H-S. grock
If you haven't decided already, I would pass on the Herba-Diffuser. Its definitely cheap, so if you really want it, go for it, but from my experience using it, it does absolutely nothing. I really couldn't tell much of a difference. The real only positive to it in my book, is it does keep your hookah base a little bit cleaner, since it catches anything that might go through the downstem. It does quiet down your hookah a TON. It basically silences the thing. In my book, I don't really like this. I enjoy the sound a hookah makes, and the HD takes away from that. Id say your set up is golden though. Pretty amazing "beginner" rig, probably nicer than what a lot of more experienced hookah smokers have... You're going to love the Crown Micro. Hands down one of the nicest bowls I own. I plan on buying another crown sometime soon, not sure if I'm gonna get the classic, or the medium funnel. Also a great choice to go with KM! Pull the trigger already, its gonna be hard to beat what you have in mind for your set up.
omegaalpha22
Burning, most sites do have the Kafe. Hookah-shisha has it marked as the "Shamadan". The thing is KM doesn't name the hookahs, so you need to look at the pics. And one of my points is Don't Settle. I'm glad I didn't. I loved the Admiral, and the vendor I bought it from offered an amazing Nizbor with it, and I didn't have the cash flow then..so I waited, and got it. By far the best purchase I've ever made (although now I wish I had the Bahyriah). Tangiers Lucid, if you're used to nicotine, won't give you any buzz. Nakhla, although easy to pack and smoke, is hit or miss IMO on buzz. I can sometimes get knocked on my a&$ or just be relaxed and all cool.....if you like pipe tobacco, you'll love Zaghoul. One of my favorite smokes. Full frontal tobacco flavor. Social Smoke is great, especially considering the time and effort they put in each flavor. For example, the Mobster (energy drink) flavor (according to their site) has actual guarana beans in it. Most flavors are balanced and wonderful. Definitely try the Lime, Mobster, Baja Blue, and Voltage. You definitely have a good plan. One other thing..the hose. I definitely love the Nammor. Also, if you want to save a couple bucks, try the Tonic Long Handle Washable Hose (wanted to write a review, but it wouldn't let me)...wider gauge than the Nammor and cheaper, although the tips are non-removable. I believe it was first available in 1904, long before Nakhla DA and AF flavors....The point of hookah originally was as a discussion piece. warfarin549
Well ignore my reg date, b/c I've been doing this for a few years now. I'd avoid any kind of Tangiers as one of your tobaccos to try. Even lucid can give you a bit of a buzz and has a learning curve. The only Social Smoke flavor I can really recommend is their pink lemonade. Has less of the chemically artificial taste, is easy to smoke, and won't give much of a buzz. It may not be everyone's favorite, but Fantasia really is an excellent beginner's "shisha". Their flavors are very strong, it's very easy to get good smoke/flavor, and unless you are totally green and smoking more than breathing, you won't get much of a buzz if any. Ace of spades is definitely one of my smoking groups go to shishas. You could always try some non-tobacco shishas i guess, but I cant really comment, the only one's I've tried tasted like death or weren't very satisfying. vendetta_revived
I vote for Al fakher as a brilliant beginner tobacco. Easy to smoke, strong potent flavours, long lasting, epic clouds and minimal buzz if any. You really should get at least one or two packs of tang lucid btw.
