ukhookah
I think reviews are beneficial if it can be described in relation to the same flavour but of a different brand. I think comparitive reviews for me are most reliable.
Bawhee
I like everyone writing down their setup, if I try out a taste theyve had and said was great and it turns out to be shit I can still hope that it was just my crappy setup and that once I get a better hookah everything will be better! Arcane
I don't think your setup really has nothing to do with the flavor. Of course, that is barring dirty/faulty components. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Jess. I've largely learned that the reviews are never helpful for me. It's nice to read a good review every now and then, but I'm reading them less and less these days. However, it's not the fault of the review format. I know my tastes will differ from everyone else's, so what they interpret as a good "blueberry" may equate to dirt covered blueberry muffin batter to me. To put it blunty, I just don't trust (or agree) with the opinions of most people in the review section. There are a few people here whose tastes are similar to mine, so if I need a "review"...I ask their opinions on particular flavors. But, if you're starting out or aren't as particular...the review section can be a great place to get an overall feel of a flavor. Although, I do agree with Jess in that some reviews are a lot less than helpful. At least there's quite a few good reviews out there. edit: changed tone somewhat. Satou
I personally like the written reviews that are concise, have a rating system like 1 out of 10 and don't stray off in to random tangents. Such as hookah set up, how it was prepared and trivial things that should be left for tutorials and showing off. Because before purchasing a brand or a flavor, I tend to look up the general consensus on a particular flavor or brand of shisha instead of going off the opinion of a singular individual who may be trying to sell it. This makes sure I am better 'prepared' in making a decision on flavor or brand based off of what others have said, what the seller has said and my own opinion. Rather than flying in by the seat of my pants. However I have felt that I too undercut or shorten my reviews quite a bit because I frankly don't want to sit and try to describe a particular flavor with more than six words. In fear of being boring if I go over board.....
evilded777
I tend to use the overall section to give a more detailed description of the flavor/experience. This is all voluntary... people contribute because they WANT to.

Chreees
I dunno about you guys, but I hold a gun to people's heads and make them write reviews.
Coyote
My point is that if you sat down and payed attention to what you smoked I think it would be pretty easy to write a description of the flavor that is more than six words. I think there is no fault in wishing for a more detailed review.
I agree with this... I use Stuie's format for reviews but I focus mainly on a detailed description in the "overall" section. There are lots of things to talk about when describing your smoke session including: complexity, endurance, oiliness, sweetness, flavor strength, and humidity resistance. Plus then we get into different batches and stuff... so the priliminary information about the set up isn't as important to me at the overall description.
