Windowz 8

So ive gotten the Dev release.
Looks freaking amazing so far.
Ive coded a few apps with vs 11 for the new metro layout.
And i must say im impressed im also running it on my Ausus slate(tablet) and its kicking androids and win7's ass.
Now just to see how the app devs will recact to it.

Other programmers here what do you think?

I have yet to install the Dev, but I am intrigued from what I have seen. It will definitely be a giant leap for tablets when it launches.

Primary tablet market, but I'm a skoshe disappointed that they spent their focus on developing a multi-platform.

I'm not going to complain too much though, in my personal opinion Windows 8 is just Windows 7 re-boxed and repackaged with some fun party streamers tied onto it. Me I won't be paying for it though.

How is VS 11 i only know a bit of VB and i like the switch for vb 2010 any changes to vb 11? im just lazy to look into it until rc1

Yeah that's what win7 was to vista pretty much, with a few minor tweaks.

I've adjusted my vista boxes (I have 3) and they're all just as reliable as my win7 install. Hoping to get a few more copies of vista for free for future boxes to run 64 on the cheap(free)

Its a whole new interface. If you want to get an idea how it works try coding a WPF application in VS10

I don't feel the need to code something for the operating system that I will likely be charged 150+ dollars for?

Don't get me wrong, I am extremely happy to see that they are integrating the programming aspect into the system, allowing users to make apps etc, but for me I am just looking for something to run my rig with. I primarily use it for gaming and music creation.

@ LittleC, 7 was a reboxed copy of Vista, but at the same time it was a much needed one. I owned Vista on my old Laptop, for 4 years It plagued the living crap out of it. At the same time on my Rig I had Windows 7. The differences are massively noticeable in sheer reliability, functionality, and overall performance. Vista was the garbage that 7 had to sweep up when it got here.

My problem with 8, is that 7 is not garbage. Its literally a reboxed copy, not a fixed copy like 7 was for vista, with a couple bells and whistles AKA Apps.

I think in any case, it will perform well, and will be perfect for tablets. But otherwise feel it is a waste of money.
