How Many Brands Of Shisha Use Dye Anyway?

Recommended Posts

I was setting up a bowl this past weekend, when I opened a package of some Golden Layalina my fiancee picked up awhile ago. I was surprised( and I don't exactly know why, just assumed it wasn't) to find out it was dyed red. If I had to place my surprise on something it's cause it was Chocolate flavor, and I guess I didn't expect red, you know? And I always hear how everyone hates that Starbuzz uses dye, so I guess due to my lack of experience with many different brands, I thought SB was the only one. So other then Tangiers, does anyone else not dye their Shisha?

But why the hell do they dye it anyway?!? Why increase cost of production on such a useless (and possibly harmful) additive?

i think the same thing, I dont see any point to dye

It's a goldish color because of the type of tobacco they use and the honey base/flavorings.

Also, Starbuzz mojito - that green dye is so horrifically off-putting....

I have some of that(if you mean passion fruit mojito) and I know mine is no where near green. Mine is the typical starbuzz red.

Does nobody here smoke Nakhla two apples? That shit is deep red. Al-Waha DA I think is undyed. It's a sort of brown color.

I've never seen Al-Waha dyed before. Could be mistaken, but hopefully that's another to add to the undyed list.

i'm pretty sure they all dye - even tangiers from what i (think) i remembered eric saying.

i could be wrong, but i believe he said he dyes black (or it could be from the blackstrap molasses used in production).

all of the super "natural"-looking amber colored tobaccos out there - those are dyed...

imo, the most disgusting dyes are the obvious deep greens, blues, and reds - bleck

No Artifical Colors or Dyes... unless there's some sort of "natural" dye used on shisha, you may be right.

I stand corrected. Just thought that the golden color wasn't authentic.
