Anytime you have a large group of people gathered for any period of time, there will be stragglers who will glom on. If there is food, you're going to attract people who have none. If there are lots and lots of people, there will be those who think they can hide in the crowd and do whatever they think they can. Predators will look at it as a feast of idealistic prey. These people will probably have no clue as to why there is a gathering and won't care if they did. And, most of the "occupy" occupations are in cities where you are going to have those sort of activities happening anyway.

I haven't heard of a tea party gathering like this. Any large gatherings I have heard about were inside, paid, screened, etc. So that would eliminate the "hangers on". And they were only measured in hours, or days, not weeks.

I could give you many, many more, just a few examples here.

You are incorrect about locations, making your point, well, invalid at best, deceptive at worst.

Still I don't see any rapes, assaults, firebombs, ak-47's, tear gas, cops in riot gear, destroyed property, businesses laying people off, fools crapping in the streets, general public threatened, attacking people in their cars, ect.

Ok, I concurr that there were some outdoor rallies, but you missed the other point I was making. These rallies lasted a couple HOURS, not weeks. So before you try to shoot down my comment, about a LONG TERM OPEN GATHERING, post a rebuttal that matches, not several unconnected gatherings that are a couple hours at best.

Chris, yes, a zombie apocolypse would be nice about now. I have enough swords for a small army. Who's in??? LOL

Is it not a sad and terrible thing that we have reason to be afraid of our government for assembling? No MATTER the cause? Something smells backwards.

It's the fault of OWS that they let it go on so long it degrades into a gang of thugs. Anyone that didn't expect that to happen has not paid any attention to history, nor the nature of mankind. Now the movement has damaged their message to the point they look like crazy people to the rest of the nation. Simply put, they have gone from a movement with a potential to be a force, and become a laughing stock that is being ignored by those that they are protesting. In the end, the OWS crowd will be party to some act/acts that result in retaliation by the gov't, or manage to egregiously offend the sensibility of the nation as a whole... then the movement is dead.

But more, unlike the deadbeats at OWS, the average tea party sort actually has a job, and likes to not smell like a bridge-bum.

Ready for the zombies? Preferring not to get zombie-puss on me, I'm going for the 2500m headshots.

I still don't get this. Characterizing someone as lazy or dirty for not having a job when there are so few to be had (even McDonalds turning away a vast majority of their applicants) seems kind of inappropriate and unnecessarily insulting. Or, for that matter, for being homeless when so many have been foreclosed upon, which is partly a result of the current unemployment and underemployment issues.)

With the Tea Party it's been hard for me to take it seriously as it claims to be against big government when they have the backing of big government and financial power houses. It's like it's pretending to be one thing, but it's really something else altogether.

Meanwhile we have stuff like this...

http://www.pythagore...gh-five-driver/

going on, even in situations that begin relatively peacefully. Two incidents of people being purposefully struck by a car on video, followed by police allowing the drivers go free. One incident of police randomly shooting a camera man who was complying with them with a rubber bullet. One incident of police instigating an assault on citizens with a club. What kind of consequences do any of them pay? How does the media usually portray these incidents? Many keep their jobs, and as little as possible if it can't be spun into a blame the victim scenario.

Not safe for work, unless you are a self-employed old geezer who doesn't give a damn what people think.

I have to say, I completely agree with him on OWS crowd.

I listened to Carrolla earlier and I do like his views of current culture and their obsessions through envy but he totally missed a big portion of how you get in life. It's who you know and who you stomp over or who you pay enough to make legislation that makes doing business easier for you and harder for the rest of the country. We can't just have blanket statements covering such an overly complicated matter.

And how is that any different than any other time in the history of mankind?

Know the King, get free land, be knighted
Know the Pope, get free stuff
Be the head caveman's friend, get second best rock to sleep on, and second best cavewoman.

I think the problem is found more in federalization of everything. 150 years ago if a state was egregious to your livelihood, you could leave. Find a state that welcomed and fostered your industry. Now every state is basically the same, just a different shaped line on the map. We are back to being the surfs living under the king's thumb. This time the king isn't a fat guy with a load of wives, and a proclivity to put large gaps between their heads, and shoulders -- now the king we are servile to is a giant volume of laws, and regulations that are every bit as oppressive as any dark ages ruler. I can understand the frustration of the OWS, but think blocking the public from going into the apple store, or mobbing bank lobbies is, well, stupid as it can get. Apple, nor a bank forced to take federal $ are the problems, hell, even the overpaid CEO isn't the problem... Explain why the OWS crowd can't figure out the problems are in DC, there are 535 ass-onions that can't quit spending $ and making feck-all-stupid laws.

Agreed, it is who you know that counts, and with enough "contributions" you can buy all of the friendships, and important acquaintances that you need. But that really is not the fault of business, so making everyone's life miserable by crapping in the streets, chasing off the customers, and accosting employees, just demonstrates a marked lack of understanding and exactly what the problem is. And, while I understand the frustration of a twentysomething fresh out of college, and with no hope of ever having what their parents had, their inability to see where the problem actually lies makes me question why they spent the money going to that college the first place.
