ChicagoRSX
So Vendata asked me to let him know how well this smokes so here it is. I am currently entering hour number 2 smoking and it is smoking like a champ. Really (and this is all my personal opinion now, so no one get upset) if I had known the Crown Classic smokes so well, I probably wouldn't have purchased the Tangiers small phunnel. I don't regret the purchase, just seem like the Classic gives me better air flow. But I am a Tangiers newbie, so that may have something to do with it. Right now I'm smoking Blue gumball, enjoying it pretty well, not sure if it will make it into my permanent rotation, but I do like the flavor. But I'm still impressed with Tangiers and Crown overall. Great pair they are.(little yoda there.lol)
rhineholt
MIght be a dumb question, but i've never dealt with any crown bowls and this post makes me interested... In the picture on the site, the bottom of the bowl looks kind of narrow. Does this fit on a KM? Or a temsah? Also, do you think this bowl is more of a single person bowl or could this be used as a party bowl?

Just don't see more then that.
ChicagoRSX
I smoked a bowl for just shy 3 hours today taking many many draws. I would say it would work pretty decently for a group. I only have MYA's so I won't be much help there.
vendetta_revived
Thanks for letting us know! I am curious though, seeing as the holes are on the rim, how do you poke your holes and place the coals?
Chreees
Shit, I still need to pick up a Crown Classic... How do you pack and poke holes for yours?
ChicagoRSX
I will do another bowl with pictures. But today I put 2ish rings of holes around the center and a few around the edges, think 12,3,6, and 9 o'clock.

One bowl I did with the typical phunnel hole arrangement, didn't seem to negatively impact the session. Smoke may have been a bit whispy by some people's standards, but great flavor. glider
mmmmm i love my crown micro phunnel and classic 2.0. both smoke tangiers very well despite their very small size. my classic seems to be on the small side and i can pack about 15-20g of tangiers in it. the "normal" sized ones can hold the 30g. the classic doesnt smoke AS WELL as any of my phunnel bowls(except maybe my new small... bleh) but i get an easy 2-3 rounds on it with great flavor and smoke. if you are having any second thoughts about buying any of the bowl from crown, eliminate them because they are worth every penny. i need to get a signature phunnel next to replace my broken small(RIP) because the newer small tang bowls arent cutting it for me. boludo
I've said it several times. The crown classic is a great beginners bowl to smoke tangiers. It is very easy to pack and the quality of the smoke is very good, and it holds as much tobacco as a mini.
ChicagoRSX
I really don't think the Crown Classic is a "beginners bowl" at all. Owning both, I personally feel I got better flavor and smoke out of the Classic then I did with the Tangiers phunnel. I will admit I'm no expert at Tangiers in any way shape or form, I know I got just shy of a 3 hour session out of mine.
boludo
if you get better flavor out of the classic than the phunnel, then you are probably not packing the phunnel right. The most common problem with tangiers is improper packing (although most people would claim acclimatization problems). Packing the classic is a lot easier than packing the phunnel; therefore I consider the classic a great bowl for people who want to smoke tangiers but can't yet pack a phunnel properly. Having said that, the session you get out of the classic is still great (9/10), but slightly inferior to the one you could get out of the phunnel (10/10). One advantage of using the classic over the phunnel (small or larger) is that the classic uses less tobacco. And you are right, I have gotten slightly less than 3 hours session out my classic. It is a great bowl in my opinion, and I recommended to people all the time. PS. For the record, I use my classic often. I don't have time to smoke 5+ hours out my small all the time. And I usually go to my classic over my mini often.

boludo
In my opinion it is. Specially since you can't normally get a mini for less than $50. Edited October 4, 2011 by boludo
