Floataround
Me and my questions...Hopefully this will be on of the last( I say that until tomorrow...ha!) Ok, so I got the vase I ordered for the brass hookah in, and a large Egyptian grommet for it. I can get it into the base no problem. With some elbow grease, I can get it into the downstem. The two however, refuse to work together. Not even close to getting the downstem inside the vase with the grommet on either end. I have spent the last hour shaving it down, with a box cutter which has helped a little. I figure this is probably what I will just have to keep up due to my limited resources , until it fits. Anyone have any better ideas/suggestions?
littlec
Yes, buy a new grommet. It may seem like a waste but it's worth not ruining a grommet and dealing with that headache. Buy a slim silicone one there are several that would work.

In the mean time you could use damp paper towels, electrical tape or ace bandage wraps to make a seal.

Floataround
I was hoping this was not the route I had to go..I hate ordering things where my shipping out weighs the price of the item(s)! Oh well..
vendetta_revived
Try and look around in a local shop?
Chreees
Honestly if it were me I would just do as C said and use the damp paper towel strips or electrical tape until my next order was placed and I could just easily throw in a few gaskets, so that way shipping isn't such a killer. Floataround
Yea, as long as I can get that to work with no problem that's what I am going to do. Any tips to make sure that the paper towels will seal properly sense that is all I will be using? Thanks guys!

Now start folding it over so where it is the same width as the part of your shank that goes inside the vase. wrap it around the shank, cut off the excess paper towel, then try sticking it in. Adjust the thickness of the paper towel by unfolding and cutting off layers. You can sit there and cut strips, but it seems more practical to just fold the paper towel and then adjust as needed until its the perfect fit. Fit should be snug. It will be the best seal you can get for a gasket ever. Also, for you hose and bowl gaskets, you can do the same. Just cut a single strip though; that should be enough. Wrap it around the bowl port on top, stick the bowl on. Or wrap it around the hose tip, and stick her in. Good to go. I own many gaskets and still sometimes use the paper towel method just because I feel it creates the best seal and holds everything together the most securely. Hope this helps. Floataround
I will try it out as soon as I get home! I imagine it will take a few pieces though for my stem...not sure though. I have gaskets fine for everything else though! How many of those silicone gaskets should I order? It says 4 but that seems like it might be excessive.. [/quote] I would buy one of those and they make one that is "ribbed" (for his pleasure? har har.) kind of like the MYA/Mod grommets, I would buy one of each and if that's still not a tight enough fit you can bridge the gap by wrapping the stem in electrical tape them slipping the grommets back on. Floataround
So I called Hookah Shisha, and they were great to me. I explained the situation , said how he could see that I always do large bulk orders, and that I really did not want to have to pay 10 bucks for shipping for a few one dollar items that I needed because the grommet I ordered did not work, so he said he would waive the shipping fee and send them out in an envelope for me for free! I did try the paper towel and it does work in the mean time! Another huge A in my book for H-S and for your guys help!
Bawhee
That is really awesome, I hope it works out with the silicone ones!

Floataround
Yea they were really cool! They even through in a free 'Nammor Fancy Mouthpiece" with my new Nammor on the last order! Btw, with the paper towel method..is it safe to leave one in/on? I would switch it after each use, but can I leave it on their while its just on display? It would make me feel much more secure about it sitting their knowing that its not gonna tip over easy. Just not to sure if once the paper towel dries if that will cause any issues. Chreees
I don't see any harm in leaving it in there... It'll just be dry when you go to take it out or whatever.
