Bugs And Acclimation

Recommended Posts

So you guys know its really humid here. In addition to the challenges of acclimation and I cursed with the proliferation of fruit flies, flies, stink bugs, and mosquitos. They are attracted to my Tangiers during acclimation. I was covering my open containers with a clean rag or a cheese cloth but I'm figuring that there is not enough air flow to correctly acclimate so I'm thinking about getting some food cover. They will not only keep the air flow but they will also keep the bugs out of my tobacco (talk about Bug Powder lol!). Anyway, do you guys think that will work?

Here is a pic of what I'm talking about:

Did something similar this past week with some Mosquito netting I had lying around because we had laminate put in and over the course of 2 days I believe 50 flies moved and started mating.

Took a week to kill them all.

I was house sitting and the people had left some food in the garbage disposal... i guess a flys got to thinking it was a nice honeymoon destination and yadda yadda yadda. There HUNDREDS of young flies all over the windows in this kitchen. I had to kill them all. It was so sad and gross. They were so young and barely knew wtf was going on. They didn't even try to fly away. They just got killed. I cried about it  .

Anyways............... yeah i think one day i should get a few of those.

I'm very surprised by all this. Bugs seem rather repelled by hookah tobacco in my experience. Ants and flies and bees never approach my tobacco while it's acclimating. Also, they avoid the smoke.

Katie- Great idea with the netting thingy. I say do it if the little buggers are giving you trouble.

One time I witnessed a fly dive right into my Tangiers while it was acclimating. Don't quite remember what flavor it was. Maybe K-Cherry? Anyway, immediately after I saw it, I got as giddy as a school girl. I got my handy dandy oyster fork out, and started packing my Mini Phunnel, making damn sure to scoop the fly with the first spoonful and right into the bowl... Best bowl of K-Cherry I ever had. :)

How did the fly enrich your smoking experience? I've always considered adding protein to my shisha.
