Shisha Brand Question

Recommended Posts

hey everyone! I've heard that different brands of shisha smoke differently and that some should be packed tighter than others and can withstand more heat. Can anyone tell me the tips for Fantasia and StarBuzz? Also, are there any brands you would recommend that have a pretty wide variety of flavors? Thanks for the help! :)

Would say Al Fakher, great smoke, great taste (in general, ofc) and easy to smoke/simple heat management. I avoid starbuzz and fantasia like the plague, cant get it to smoke at all for some reason. Just pack it loosely but without any empty space, up to the rim, doesnt really matter if it touches the foil (and get a phunnel if you dont have one!). Some flavors i recommend are mint, esk apple, watermelon, kiwi, orange, golden grape, rose/golden rose, golden strawberry, apricot, berry and bubble gum.

Tips for packing Fantasia and Starbuzz are to "fluff it". What this means is that you do not need to pack it down. On average on my phunnel bowl I put likely a couple centimeters over the top of the rim, but only "drop" the shisha into the bowl rather than pack it down. It smokes thick, provides great flavor, and overall stability all around.

Tangiers, if you live in an area with not much of a change in temperature every day, then grab it and acclimate it.

Otherwise I would only be willing to recommend that you invest in Nakhla, its unwashed, $10 at its highest for 250g, amazing flavor, heavy smoke, some buzz, and likely my favorite all around brand (be it a just starting off situation, or an avid hookah smoker). Flavors to get, Chocomint, Sweet Melon, Mizo Guava.. Edited by A13lackFish

Break it up, sprinkle it in. Don't be afraid to get your hands messy. If your hands aren't messy from packing a bowl, you did it wrong.

i would suggest Tangiers and Nakhla. Besides the AF that was already mentioned.

I second this. Exactly what I was going to say. Starbuzz and Fantasia should always be packed fluffy yet full, no matter what bowl you use, standard or phunnel. I have gotten it to work fine packed tight in a phunnel however. But why would you pack it tight and use more tobacco when you can just pack it fluffy? Therefore I pack it fluffy.

Tangiers is my favorite brand of all time. Nakhla is my second favorite. I don't really bother with any other brands at this point in my smoking career.

Startbuzz is a medium to low heat tobacco once it is going. I will often put a little extra coal on it at the beginning and as soon as it gets going, pull a piece of the extra coal and cruise.

Dont know fantasia well enough to comment.
Al Fakher is a medium heat, tangiers is a low heat, Nakhla is a high heat, al amir is a medium heat, Layalina is a high heat,

These assessments are all relative of course and every coal is different. Hell, each batch of each coal is different. :)

The best thing to do is practice, know about where to start with each tobacco heat wise and then adjust on a case by case basis.

Go to local shops see what brands they carry buy a box or 3 and start packing. Personally for the price Af is pretty consistent pretty good flavors at decent prices. Naklha is always a great smoke, easy to manage but some flavors can be a little off. Trial and errors works best with mu'assal

Just smoked my first bowl of Fantasia. No problem getting good smoke. Like the taste. Started with two coals and two in reserve. After about an hour added the second two coals. Nearing an hour and a half right now. Used an egyptian bowl (seems a bit shallower than other egyptians I've seen). Yes, I'll be getting a phunnel next time I place an order.

I'm liking the Fantasia. I'll have to get more. I'm right now enjoying the pumpkin spice. May try mixing it with some apple.
