wheyfast
Hello,Being a newbie here I thought I would give everyone a review of the shop that I bought my hookah at in Berkeley. I bought an MYA last week. The guy at the store took his time and explained all aspects of hookah pipes. What to look for in quaility, coals and Shisha. I bought it from him because I thought he was honest and straight foreward. He said that if I bought the hookah there he would give a 20% discount on all accessories. I spent this week learning and exploring my new hooka. During this time I found a flaw in the hose. I wrote to MYA and they told me to return the hose back to the shop I purchased it, but if i need anything else let them know. That is a great company!! A+ customer service. No wonder MYA is the best. So I went back there today and showed them the hose. They not only agreed, but gave me my choice of replacement hoses. They then sat with me and answered all my newbie questions for the next half hour or so. They also make their own Shisha. Let me tell you it is pretty damn good. So thats my story. So far they have been a great shop. I paid a little to much for my hookah. $220, but the customer support is well with the little bit of extra money, and if I wasn't so eager to get it home we might have been able to work down the price a little. Anyways if your in the area here is the name and address:Whelans Smoke shop2486 Bancroft Way BerkeleyI will check out other places as time goes on, but this place was a good way to start.P.S. If anyone has great experience with other shops in the area let me know. Thanks everyone for the help through my newbie process. Hopefully I to can help someone someday. Granted this all depends on which one he got, and what all he got :DBut to wheyfast, welcome to the wonderfull world of Hookah
Calcartman
I've been into that shop; but they charged a lot more than I wanted to spend. But they definitely are a higher level store for the area. I'll have to go back.I bought stuff from Hi-Times. 2374 Telegraph Ave.I don't recommend it. I bought my hookah there because they wanted a lot less money for it; but their selection was limited, they're still overpriced, and they had very limited shisha options. xpimpitox
im gonna have to check these shops out...international food bazaar on curtner ave in san jose (forget the number) has a nice selection of hookahs, coals, and pretty much your average nakhla/al waha selection of shisha. they do carry fumari once in a while but that selection was limited
Calcartman
If you're looking for a decent selection in the east bay; I've found 2 shops close to me.Smoker Friendly, between Dublin Blvd and Amador Valley; between safeway and circut city (dont know the street). Has Layalina, Al Waha, Afzal, Nahkla, and Sultan. A rather nice selection of hookahs, a few bowls, and a few hoses. Japanese or quicklight coals as well. Then there is a tobacco store in San Ramon, off San Ramon Valley Blvd right next to Crow Canyon Rd, and they had a TON of Al Waha flavors, a few nice looking hookahs, cleaning supplies, and again a few quick lights and japanese coals. EvansLight
i would shop online. Its the best and you get so much free stuff. Plus anything goes wrong most of the online shops are really good with customer service. And if they arent and you post it here, then the site gets attacked by the forum hookah monkeys
