Hj Alien

Recommended Posts

Hey guys/girls, there haven't been any reviews on HJ's Alien Phunnel in about a year but I saw recently that people liked his latest batch. I've dropped my small phunnel several times (drinking) so it has a few cracks/ chips so I'm in need of a new bowl. Should I go with the Alien or would you recommend a crown bowl? Thanks

Edit: My sessions aren't long enough for a small phunnel hence the need for a smaller bowl. Edited by kajon

I like the crown classic a lot more than I like the alien. I would not bother with the micro funnel. The classic is a lot easier to pack (especially with tangiers) than the alien, and it does not hold too much tobacco. It is more expensive than the alien, but it may be more durable too...

i liked my alien before i broke it, but the crown bowls are just so much better from what i understand. people are going to say aliens suck, but i liked mine. but on the other hand, i feel like you'll get a much better bowl from a crown because the crown bowls are just on another level, and im pretty sure everyone will agree with me

I highly dislike the classic for anything other than Nakhla as it is too hard to pack and get shisha close to the foil without covering the holes. I think however that it is simply the design on my particular bowl.

Now, I'm fairly certain that the crown micro funnel is made with unicorn horns because it's magical. With about ten grams of shisha and two split coals, I can easily smoke tangiers for 2 hours. Testing it out one day, I fit four crown micro funnels worth of shisha into my Tangiers small bowl. The crown funnel is amazingly durable, and holds almost no shisha but somehow smokes for two hours with good flavor.

I have actually been very interested in this bowl...will see where this thread goes. Even the small Tangiers seems like its too much for me.

I would go with the crown (classic) over the alien. I had too many heat problems with the alien due to the shallowness of the bowl. I have a micro crown classic for short sessions - holds about 10-15g and is perfect for that me myself and I afternoon session.

I've only smoked out of the alien twice I think, smoking out of my crown classic blows it out of the water. It just offers such a great balance between ease of use and quality of smoking session. I vote Crown, you won't be sorry.

I prefer clay to glass because it holds heat better. I like my alien for smoking most everything except I find heat management for Tangiers too labor intensive since it holds so much heat. But for all the other tobacco brands its fine for shorter sessions.

Glass cools down too quickly so the smoke can be inconsistent.

I'm with littlec: Clay>Glass

Okay I checked out the bowl and I read the thread but I am still unsure of the difference between the crown classic and tangiers phunnel. Someone shed some light, thanks

Crown Classic: http://crownhookahs.com/shop/article_821001/***WEEKLY-SPECIAL***-Crown-Classic-v2.0.html?sessid=KMiqf4bkMlSqtMugTGpWXrwD5R36auGu0bW2vRSXlD3eR6ffijhbUFQ81DHQLzzo&shop_param=cid%3D1%26aid%3D821001%26

See the holes around the rim of the bowl? That's what makes it different than a Tangiers phunnel bowl.

Don't mean to thread jack, but crown micro phunnel or classic for tang and occassionally nak? I'm no stranger to paking tang in a small phunnel but there's just so much wasted shisha.
